No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

Geez, this is what I hate about the extreme parts of the Republican party. Why don't they just leave it to the people organizing the gala. Uptight, crazies. Do they really think he's going to go mouth off at an inaugural party. We finally have some musicians young people can relate to, and we go just throw them away because we don't like a few things they do. Unbelievable. I wouldn't be surprised if Kid Rock gives up trying to support this Administration.

I bet this thread will be full of snotty celebration by those self-apointed 'voices of social conservatism' who always scream that they'll stay home if they don't get 101% of their way, then turn around and expect those who aren't social conservatives to continue to vote GOP while being spat upon at every turn.

I am social conservative and not at all a Kid Rock fan, but recognize that there are many who aren't social conservatives whom I still share common beliefs in other areas and welcome their participation in the GOP. It is not just 'my party' and shouldn't be completely stifling. Yes there is a fine line sometimes between tolerating and condoning, but there's seems to be a bit of an overreaction about this whole concert.

If you act like a 'Smoking Nazi' don't count on smokers voting for your candidate. Very parallel to how some are treating the more libertine side of conservatives.

Awesome. Harry Carey couldn't call my game. That is classic. That is the kind of life he lives (according to him). So let him sing about it. I have more respect for someone who sings it like it is than for some pre-teen who has a song (written by someone else) thrown in front of her and just sings it because she is marketable and will sell records.

Kid Rock, one of the few modern rock stars to come out in support of President George W. Bush, can't catch a break from the right despite that. According to WorldNetDaily.com, conservatives are furious that Rock has been selected to headline a youth concert as part of the festivities surrounding Bush's second inauguration on January 20. Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, will perform at the Washington D.C. Armory on January 18 at a show hosted by Bush's daughters, Barbara and Jenna.

Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign For Children And Families, expressed outrage that the often raunchy Rock was asked to take part in the inauguration: "I just read Kid Rock's sexually explicit lyrics and feel ashamed and dirty for even looking at his songs. If this sex-crazed animal, whose favorite word is the F-word, is allowed to sing at Bush's inauguration this will send a clear message to pro-family Americans that the Republican Party has taken them for a ride and ditched them in the gutter."

Thomasson added, "Bush's FCC can take the F-word off TV and fine radio and television networks that cuss on the air and show indecency, and then have the most indecent, sexually explicit, anti-family white singer on the planet representing the second term of George W. Bush." Thomasson also said that having Kid Rock perform was "inconsistent" with the "moral values" message that was supposedly one of the reasons people voted for Bush's re-election.

He concluded, "This guy is one of the worst role models for youth imaginable," saying his presence at the inaugural was unacceptable even if he played less offensive songs.

A LAUNCH reporter was seeking comment from Rock at press time. No comment was available from the White House.

I could care less if Kid Rock performs or not.

But you'd think someone involved in the planning would have questioned the wisdom of inviting a drug-using, porn-acting, vulgarity-spewing, Barbara Bush hater to an Inauguration activity to preform.

I agree with you, but being somewhat a musician and lyricist myself I find the dichotomy in his lyrics refreshing. The soul and morality of allot of his songs ring to the true nature of man, our own inner personal battle between good vs. evil, and sometimes the good side doesn't always win but the struggle continues. As for his support of our troops and his love for our country he ranks up there in my book!

I think I understand your perspective. But, serious question: if Michael Jackson were a Bush/Iraq war supporter, would you be OK with his performing?

I think Michelle Malkin makes a pretty good case for why he's not someone the party should associate itself with on this level. Feel free to read and respond.

What is this thing about him being a Laura Bush hater? I don't believe it. He performed last month at that Kennedy Center tribute to Elton John and apparently brought the house down with his rendition of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting. Pubs just shoot themselves in the foot when they act so silly like this.
