ARREST OUR MOM
NY Post ^ | BRAD HAMILTON

Posted on 01/09/2005 7:35:33 AM PST by Pharmboy

January 9, 2005 -- Two teen sons of an Upper East Side heiress say they are so desperate to get away from their abusive mom, they've asked the state attorney general to bust her for welfare fraud. Jason Jacobs, 17, and his brother Jeffrey, 16, say their mom, Linda, pockets benefits while refusing to buy them food or pay the electric bill at their $4,000-a-month apartment. The prep-school kids — accustomed to a privileged life of Hawaiian vacations and East Hampton summers — claim they're abused, neglected and were recently offered a dinner of half an apple. So they've become amateur sleuths — collecting bank statements and benefits records and delivering the documents to their father, Gary Jacobs, who passed them to welfare-fraud investigators last week. Going on welfare, they say, is a despicable ploy to convince a judge to slap new child-support payments on their financially beleaguered father.

Sounds like a loving, stable home environment.

Planned Parenthood will hold a press conference today to chastise the mother for not aborting.

Do some women even love their kids? Or do they just think of them as a guarantee of future funds from their husband after they have had their fun?

How in the name of Hannah do you get welfare living in a $4,000 a month apartment?

That is eight times my rent and in no way would I qualify for welfare.

If they are sixteen and seventeen, can't they walk to the fridge to get something? Or can't they get a job and order chinese or a pizza?

(Not to say this issue doesn't need to be cleared up. Just asking.)

The prep-school kids — accustomed to a privileged life of Hawaiian vacations and East Hampton summers ....

No journalistic slant there, huh? Let's blame the kids as being spoiled brats.

Their mother is in a $4,000/month apartment; and on welfare? This sounds like welfare fraud first off, secondly the father will be paying nearly half of his take-home pay for child support. This is NOT Mom's money, never was and never will be. This is money paid to Mom to raise the kids. If you had a similar situation at work; you'd be required to provide receipts and justification for every dollar. However, in child support cases, Mom gets to spend it on anything that enters her mind (sports cars, jewelry, boyfriends). It's not at all uncommon.

Surely the boys are old enough to move to their dad's place without an okay from a judge.

$4,000-a-month apartment and they get welfare? How did that happen with our tax dollars?

How in the world can a person get welfare benefits living in a $4000/month apartment? The system needs addressing as well as having the woman investigated for the non-care of her children.

The boys believe their mom — who they say hasn't worked in 25 years — has long relied on her family fortune.
But that changed in November, they said, when she lost a court bid to impose child support on her ex-husband. She's appealing the decision.
Instead of funneling upward of $15,000 a month into her bank account, her family began paying her rent directly, the boys suspect.
The goal of the cut-off, Jason said, was to "create an image" of poverty and "put financial pressure on my father."

So, let's use some basic greed, extortion and blackmail for revenge; with a financial hook to boot. Lovely woman.

...were recently offered a dinner of half an apple.

If the apple was a braeburn, that couldn't have been all bad.

The article states that the kid worked part-time and attended school, buys his own food and staples.

The parents are scum. Father and mother....

This is another reason why state and federal income taxes should be eliminated ASAP. This situation exists largely because the government(s) has all this money rolling in regardless of accountability, and this leads to conditions where people like Linda Jacobs can get away with "scams" like this one. In the end it's the hardworking people like the rest of us who pay for this mess while people like her laugh all the way to the bank.
