Mom ousted for taping gay acceptance `lies' (Forced off property at High School Gay Awareness Day)
The Boston Herald ^ | Thursday, December 16, 2004 | Jessica Fargen

Posted on 12/16/2004 10:05:07 AM PST by presidio9

Two parents, shocked at frank talk during a gay and lesbian awareness day at Newton North High, were forced off the property after one parent whipped out a video camera and started taping.

``This does not belong in curriculum,'' said Kim Cariani, who said four police officers and the principal told them they would be charged with trespassing if they did not leave.

``It's against my religion. It's morally wrong and forced in a child's face.''

Each year, some students at Newton North forgo classes during To BGLAD: Transgender, Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Awareness Day with assembly-like sessions including ``Out at the Old Ballgame'' and ``Color Me Queer.'' Students are not required to attend.

Cariani kept her two kids home during the day, but she was curious.

Cariani and another parent, Brian Camenker, were in the audience when adults in a panel discussion talked about being gay. When one man told the students he was attracted to his sister's husband, Cariani said she started to record the ``propaganda, false information and lies.''

The principal demanded Cariani turn over the videotape or leave, Camenker said.

``They took the two of us and pulled us out and gave us one minute to leave and if we came back on the property we would be arrested for trespassing,'' he said.

Tom Mountain, a columnist for the Newton Tab, was also barred from the assembly ``for the safety and security of the children,'' he said he was told.

Newton schools Superintendent Jeff Young said it is a violation of school policy to tape or photograph students without parental permission. Cariani refused to give up the tape, so they were asked to decamp, he said.

The awareness day, held for the past 10 years, is one of several ways the schools highlight diversity, Young said. Students who don't want to go can go to the library or computer lab.

I'll tell you who they think they are. They are the people that control the majority of the children the majority of the day. That's who. And it scares the heck out of me.

Yes they are, and the ones conducting the programs are gay acticists, not teachers! The teachers are told to go along with it, and support it, but they don't teach it.

"Newton is, among other things, the hometown of openly homosexual U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D)."

Frank's hometown actually is in New Jersey. He lived in Boston for a number of years and "served" in the Massachusetts Legislature. In the early 1980's he moved to Newton from Boston in order to run for Father Drinan's Congressional seat. Drinan had been ordered by the Vatican to not run for reelection. Drinan's seat was the one that John Kerry actually aspired to but lost out to in the 1970's to the Catholic priest Drinan.

When Massachusetts lost a seat because of the 1980 census, Frank was compelled to run against Margaret Heckler a Republican. Frank won the seat and many years later he "came out" making him the second gay congressman from the Bay State.

The original gay congressmen Gerry Studds, managed to retain his seat for several years despite being censured for actually engaging in a sex act with a Congressional Page. Frank also has been involved with scandals, but Massachusetts is one odd place. We have a murderer Senator, A lying phony war hero gigolo Senator, and numerous other characters who have gotten away with so much mayhem while in office that it is simply baffling.

Newton along with the town of Brookline, and also Cambridge is considered the Axis in these parts. The school systems in Newton and Brookline are held in high esteem by the local media.

The schools have been having these sort of sessions for years despite the protests of parents. There was one incident caught on tape a couple of years ago where students were being taught sexual techniques including something known as "fisting." There was a big "to do" about the episode and certainly now these Administration people are going to remain vigilant in order to keep their agenda and methods largely hidden from the citizens at large. Thus, the parents are not allowed on the school property. Clearly the school officials prefer that parents do not know what is actually going on.

MM, I agree with you that it is prudent to have all of the information before forming an opinion. I do. And, we don't know the facts about this particular situation. We have only heard the mother's side of the incident. However, we do know that the school is conducting these workshops during instructional time and these workshops are not pertaining to academics. IMO, that in itself is innapropriate. Furthermore, the content is highly controversial, to say the least, and, again, IMO, should not be held during school hours because of the nature of the subject matter.

I respect your opinion and while your personal arguments are reasonable, as always, I disagree with you that the mother should not be allowed to videotape the speakers. There is a possibility that a lot of the parents of those who attend this school and, those of the kids who attended these workshops even, are not aware of just what is being spoken of during these classes and may be appalled that their children, gay or straight, are being subjected to such.

Like one poster asked, (paraphrased)- if the truth is so "grand" what are they so afraid of? I see no difference in videotaping this than in videotaping another school function, be it a school play, sports event or the like.

Heterosexual enticement of minors to engage in sex is a felony is Massachusetts.

And yet the homosexuals teach them (entice) to have sex and teach them it is normal and healthy to be promiscuous, and that isn't a felony! If half of the country, even, knew what was going on in these schools, most administrators would be under arrest. But the more they get laws passed to back up the "homo's are normal" argument, the more this will go on!

Interesting the heterosexual sex is not taught the same way in schools. Thats taboo, but all this is not!

If this ever comes to my district, I will fight it with every fiber of my being. I will risk arrest and jail time to do whatever I can to keep it out of the schools here. My God, we need a massive moral movement in this country.

Anyone can do the same, since nobody is compelled to say any Pledge of Allegiance.

You miss the point. To the corrupt left it's not good enough that no one is compelled to say The Pledge, they want the practice stopped altogether.

If their logic is applied to these "Gay" meetings they should also be banned, but that will never happen because:

(1) They are hypocrites, and

(2) They are evil.

Or at least make it very dangerous and difficult to spread this pro-sodomy message to our children.

Which is why I say NO ROMNEY on our ticket in 08, he knows about all this going on on his watch, and does nothing.

I doubt that's what the assembly was about. More like "you should respect our mutual differences, look here's a gay person and isn't he normal, so don't say mean things to each other."

Maybe because she pays taxes to the local school district? Why shouldn't any of us have a say in the educational(sic)process?

How about the fact that we are all concerned for ALL the children not just our own!! They ARE the future

Hmmmmm .... What's up with all the secrecy ???

Why aren't we the public allowed to know what is being taught at PUBLIC High Schools ???

Our tax paying dollars are paying for this .. We have EVER right to know what is going on during school hours

I think they may be the same person, if you get my drift.

And quack like ducks, as if on the same pond.
This whole story of a mother's desire to protect her children should be absolutely compelling. Why shouldn't a parent take an active role in their school (paid for with her taxes, etc.) and hold accountabilities with the school administration? Why shouldn't a parent be able to tape a presentation as long as it isn't disruptive? Put simply, those on this thread who don't get it, don't want to get it.
Those who aren't with us on this issue are against us, and that includes homosexual activists, promoters of gay marriage, diversity consultants, rainbow sash wearers, and those who want to give the benefit of the doubt to those who would infect our children with their perversities. Shame.

if you're a local taxpayer, don't you have a right to go there even if you have no kids? You're paying for it, correct?

Or are they going to use the prison analogy-you can't come in because you may have a file hidden in that cake to help
the kids escape!
