Ohio To Go Through Statewide Vote Recount After All(Gag)
WCPO CINCINNATI ^ | 11/16/04 | AP STORY

Posted on 11/16/2004 2:42:43 PM PST by dinok

A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.

The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.

Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Green Party's David Cobb said on Monday they raised more than $150,000 in four days, mostly in small contributions.

Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct for a recount, or $113,600 statewide.

Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.

not reliable? The recount is going to happen. So its reliable and creditable. Its not gloom and doom to talk about reality here. The recount is going down, and we should be ready for some kind BS when it happends. Nothing wrong with being ready.

Also, Drudge is not the reason the exit polls were bogus. Everyone was dupped. I wouldnt blame him for shyt.

These recount stories have been around for weeks now, Drudge just put them up now, because they are going to do it.

Don't believe for a moment that Kenneth Blackwell isn't ready for this. The chances of a recount are slim. All procedure and protocol have been followed. Certification is just a formality. Our "amway" method of getting out the vote here in Ohio was effective.

They are hopeing they will find counties screwing up and counting votes twice, vote fraud, etc.. to bring down bush's lead.

Actually your wrong. Any one the ballot can request a recount after they cerify the ballots but they must come up with $113,000.00. They got over $150,000.00 so the recount is going foward.

There are 2 types of recounts.

1st on is automatic, when the margin is close.

2nd is requested and paid for by anyone on the ballot.

There's readiness and then there's paranoia.
The numbers to turn this over are not there.

Absolutely. Co-opted by the illegal drug lobby.

They are going to count the votes that have zero probability of changing the outcome of the election -you are terrifying me!

How do I get ready -flex my mouse fingers?

Face value you are 100% right.. but 150,000 provis ballot, 93,000 undervotes.. and possible counties now counting votes twice.. who knows.. its a very slim chance.. but its enough to start a media shytstorm when it starts to happen.

Its not about Kerry winning Ohio. Its about Recounts, Lawyers, Courts... Its about putting doubt in peopls minds about Bush.. Its about BS vote fraud.

Bush wins 3-3.5 million vote majority and they will do anything make it look like he didnt win them.

Hope the taxpayers of Ohio enjoy picking up the tab for this political pandering.

The taxpayers aren't paying for this...the parties that request the recount have to pay the state.

It is possible that the democrat's and the third and party's intent to throw the Electoral College into turmoil by denying Bush Ohio's share of the vote. Then other narrow margin States may pick up the drumbeat.

The 93,000 spoiled ballots are not simply undervotes. Very few of these will actually result in a vote. Additionally, Blackwell (whom knows the state much better that you or I) assumes the breakdown of the provisional ballots to favor Bush. Relax...

It is curious to me though why Erie County goes Dem though. I think they did in 2000 as well. Is there bleed over from liberal Lorain County (Southern part of Lorain Cty not so liberal though)? Maybe it's because of some colleges there, plus nearby bastion of extremely liberal Oberlin College in Lorain Cty.

How ridiculous. Wanna bet they collected some of the money from disgruntled rats. I don't like the libertarian party much better than the rats.

You're right. It is simply insane to assume all 93,000 spoiled ballots will go to Kerry. First of all, some of them are undervotes because some people chose not to vote for president. Second, some of them are overvotes, and, unless Ohio has some very strange laws, overvotes do not count.
