Ohio To Go Through Statewide Vote Recount After All(Gag)
WCPO CINCINNATI ^ | 11/16/04 | AP STORY

Posted on 11/16/2004 2:42:43 PM PST by dinok

A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.

The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.

Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Green Party's David Cobb said on Monday they raised more than $150,000 in four days, mostly in small contributions.

Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct for a recount, or $113,600 statewide.

Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.

The Losertarians in WA may have cost Dino Rossi the governorship. When are they going to get a clue?

A sign from Airplane II that begins with "Unbelievable" ought to be flashing through everybody's mind right about now.

So why don't they recount Michigan? There were obvious problem with the count here .

There's but a couple-letter difference between Liebertarian and Lieberal.

Them them have the recount.

And then let's have an investigation of vote fraud and count fraud in Detroit. Alright?

This recount is being pushed hard on du.
The du election related forums advocate a conspiracy theory...
complete with bogus analysis...
That group has become completely unhinged in the wake of the Kerry debacle.

I have libertarian tendencies, but was completely turned off for good when I saw a debate Badaranik(sp?) participated in with other 3rd party candidates as Columbia U (Oct. I think it was) and he OUTRIGHT stated the democrat LIE about W starting the draft. Any thoughts I may have entertained about voting and/or supporting libertarian causes and candidates with money, time, etc.--the door is shut on that for good. This cute little OH stunt by them only reinforces my thoughts about them.

Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said the actual cost to county election boards combined will be about $1.5 million.

Florida law mandated a recount because of the closeness of the election.

Hope the taxpayers of Ohio enjoy picking up the tab for this political pandering.

I'm convinced that's what it is, the Green Party smells blood in the water from the wounded Dems and is hoping to peel away some of the Dems so to make themselves more "relevant".

Ok, so wait. The recount occurs after the election has been certified?? Then what's the point? Question: So what would happen in the unlikely case that the recount showed Kerry winning after all? Nothing? It's left up to Ohio's legislature? Contested slate? Goes to the House?

This is actually rather fascinating. I don't think it's likely mind you (rather: I don't think it's possible, without outright fraud on whoever does the "re-counting"...), but I do wonder how it would play out if a post-certification recount showed the result changing.....

After certification? Why wouldn't they want to do it beforehand? Oh well. Nothing is going to change anyway.

Or Wisconsin (then again, they would have to pay for the entire cost). Then again, if Wisconsin had gone to Bush and be the deciding state, they'd pony up the dough.

Why don't they recount Pennsylvania?

The lie that Ohio decided the election is prevalent and misleading.

Ohio didn't decide the election any more than Pennsylvania would decide the election...why not make sure the votes in PA are counted properly (the difference is smaller than the OH difference) and who knows, Bush may have won PA too, if ALL the VOTES are COUNTED!
