Just a point of curiosity, has anyone got any extensive information about the mummies of Urumchi?
I found some 5 year old websites making a few talking points about them, but nothing detailed as to origins or anything.
Comments and discussion please, keep links to a minimum.
Pinging blam who knows lots about this sort of thing.
To get your memory jogging if it needs it, they were blue eyed, plaid wearing 3,000 year old mummies found in Central Asia.
We know by the age they weren't Celtic (Gaelic) in the classical Roman (Greco) sense, but maybe Pictish?
I went to Urumchi once. Saw no mummies, however.
I had a hard back book on this, I hope I can find it.
Why don't you read the book?
When I, a college student gets $, I will.
Until then, I was looking to whet my appetite.
It's probably in a library. Do you have a library near by?
Yes I do have a library. I'm looking for not paying fines (and ownership is fun).
Either way though, im just looking for comments.
The Chinese are paranoid about the Urumchi mummies, because they are having problems with Caucasian Uigur separatists, and fear that DNA testing would strengthen the Uigur cause.
So far, no real DNA testing. They confiscated DNA samples from Victor Mair and refuse to allow any more DNA to be tested.
You probably have the book in your college.
I wonder if you are using us for free research? If so, shame on you.
:) Does it help if the free research is not for a paper of anysort? Just an itch?
Does Clinton think any of them are hot?
Im sure he has at sometime or another. At least one was a female, so I'm sure he was attracted to her.
Chinee... if I remember correctly.
:-)
Blue-eyed chinese?
Try going to your college library & using Lexis Nexis. Likely you'll turn up articles/ info in periodicals that the library has.
I venture to guess, you cannot tell what color a mummy's eyes were. Hair yes, eyes no.
Lost tribes of Isreal?....
