Listening to Lewis & Floorwax (radio personalities out of Denver, CO on 103.5). Boulder High School is having a talent show Friday night. One of the acts is a band that includes 2 teachers, the band name is "The Taliband". They will be performing a song they worte titled "I Wish George Bush was Dead". This was reported by a parent. The band had to audition in front of a group including two other teachers and were selected to perform Friday night.
Which means, there are probably students at this HS who have relatives in the military. The actions of these teachers and administrators is absolutely unacceptable. They are the supposed adults. Instead, they sound like grown imbeciles.
Anyone have any ideas who we can write to or contact. Calling the teacher or the school administration appears pointless. Perhaps someone who would be in charge of their federal funding?
"We're worried that in four years we're going to be at war with five countries and we're going to have no trees," senior Cameron Ely-Murdock said.
"I know that's an extreme position, but I'm really worried about the draft," he said.
As usual, some people do not know the least about living in reality.
Note to Cameron: "What draft?" The United States of American does not have a draft. Are you sure you live in this country?
It would probably have to be a citizen of that county. A property paying person. I'm not sure if anyone of them would come forward. They would probably get death threats.
Sure is a pity.
It's complete insanity.
Caution, I think, is in order here....
Let's not wait until it is too late. The worst we can be is wrong. When we call we can say "Is it true....." rather than stating it as a fact. That should cover us.
FGS
Thanks for finally de-lurking!
Keep us posted on this one. Taxpayers pay for this...incredible!
I was confused by that comment.
However, CCMVRWC explained it all:
"They have to cut down all the trees in times of war to build catapults. Then they load the catapults with baby seals and fling them out to sea, bombarding the whales. From the dead whales they get the whale oil that is then converted into gasoline. So we'll have no more trees, baby seals, or whales left in the world.
This is the way Halliburton planned it."
Now...it's all very clear to me...and the whole plan is so brilliantly diabolical!
The teachers are scaring these kids. In the 70s, I remember feeling hopeless, too, because our hippie/lib teachers all preached that we'd have to go outside only wearing gas masks because of pollution by the year 2000; that water, clean air and food would all be scarce; that we were running out of room because of overpopulation; and that the world was getting worse and worse.
They said that it was up to our generation to fix everything. These were the "language arts and social studies" teachers. Then we'd go into another class and the teacher would discuss suicide.
I still remember the teacher asking, "What are some reasons kids might choose suicide?" and thinking, well, maybe because you teachers keep telling us that everything is horrible and getting worse.
Graduating from Fairview High School in Boulder in 1972, I heard all that and more. In a one-semester Poli Sci elective course in 1971 we were told that the Republican party was going to completely disappear in the next few decades. ROTFLMAO!
Indeed. Very disturbing.
It's called the "Selective" Service... you have a number... and if you don't register they put you in jail.
No, there is no currently ACTIVE draft - but these kids know when they turn 18 they get a number too... Honestly, how else do you think the US is going to fill it's military in the coming decade when most kids think like these kids?
FYI:
Taken from the Selective Service website a minute ago:
http://www.sss.gov/
"On October 5, 2004, the House of Representatives voted 402 - 2 to defeat H.R. 163, the bill cited as proof that the Selective Service was preparing to reinstate a military draft. The vote made official what has been a reality since January 7, 2003, when H.R. 163 was introduced despite nearly total opposition in Congress to restoring the draft. Without Congressional support, the draft cannot be reinstated. A similar bill languishes in the Senate.
Both President George W. Bush and Senator John F. Kerry have stated for the record that they oppose a draft. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld also has opposed the draft on numerous occasions.
Since 1980, the Selective Service System has discharged its mission of preparing to manage a draft if and when Congress and the President so direct. The House action proves that the Selective Service has gotten no such direction. That being the case, the Agency will maintain its readiness as required by law, and to register young men between the ages of 18 and 25. That mission has been reaffirmed frequently by successive Administrations and by Congress under the leadership of both parties."
Laserman, I go to Boulder once in a while, as my brother lives there, I had a Randy Moss jacket and beanie baby at a coffee shop by Kings Super, they kicked me out of the coffee shop as I was talking about how good Moss was, so if you ever see me at that coffee shop, stop and say hi, I went back in there last time, but Boulder is very different from cities east of the Mississippi, in my opinion, well eh, sorry but, ah, the people seemed like they just came from a rally of, "cheer cheer the earth, forever more we'll stay true"....sorta like thinking THEY own and control the earth! Weird spot.....I didn't see any old people either, just alot of Northface garb, and cluttered book stores on Pearl.
Well, yes -- it takes trees -- lots of them! -- to make spitballs. I am just SO grateful we won't be having to resort to them, w/kerry's defeat and Repub majority.
That reminds me of being in between Jeff Head and joanie_f whilst they were lobbing various weapons at one another late one night. What a hoot that was! ("Here's my bathtub toy" " Oh yeah? Well let me just dust off what I have in my shed...")
Unfortunately, those weapons took up way too much bandwidth, and that thread is now only a fond memory.
thanks for the links. #20 -- good work.
You're welcome. But thank YOU for using your pinger!
