***Operation 4 More Years - Situation Room - Day 1 - LIVE THREAD***
Various | 2 November 2004 | Various

Posted on 11/02/2004 2:48:56 AM PST by An.American.Expatriate

As I and many of my fellow expatriates are often hard pressed to get any non-biased information from the media (we are often stuck with CNN-International!!), I have decided to start this thread in the tradition of the Operation Iraqi Freedom Situation Room threads.  I hope this meets with the approval of Jim & John and the Admin guys . . .

The purpose of this thread is to be a place to collect information from all sources into one area for discussion.  Specific threads for specific topics and cross linking are highly encouraged.

Reporting in from Houston.
I arrived at the polling location at 5:45am. Polls open at 7am. Mine was the 1st vote cast. This is a ritual for me.
When I left at 7:05, there were about 50 people in line.

No political signs, no leaflets - nothing. This is quite unusual - Usually there are many signs just past the 100 foot limit. This time - nothing!!!!

Weather in Houston - not good; already some flooding downtown and will probably get worse. I don't expect it to stop anyone I know.

I'm feeling really, really good about this election.

Just voted in Northern Virginia (Langley High School/McLean). This is a pretty liberal area. Turnout is very heavy with lines out the door and into the parking lot. I was looking for all these "younger/first time voters". They weren't there. The average age appeared to be in the mid-40's.

WAAAHH!! I want a touchscreen voting booth! Even in Kentucky it was SO exciting to pull the lever and hear that rrrrrratch sound knowing your vote was being counted! A touchscreen sounds even cooler. Did they have photos next to the names?

Voted in Chantilly, VA. Kinda long line, but this is Frnak Wolf's district.

There was a cute poll worker - but I got shot down.

My boss is fully FOR Bush, he waited in line this morning for over an hour and came in to my office to make sure I voted! No problems here. I made it to work by 8:15.

WILL PEOPLE QUIT SAYING THE POLLS CLOSE IN FLORIDA AT 7 EASTERN! That is a lie that caught up the media last time in their blunder and likely cost Bush 10,000 votes in the Panhandle! Yes the bulk of Florida closes at 7pm Easter, but the panhandle is in a different time zone and does not close until 7PM CENTRAL (8pm EASTERN)... if any media outlet remotely thinks about calling florida before 8pm they are actively attempting to manipulate the election!

They cannot claim an OOPS this time.

Back from voting in the 1st Cong. district in Illinois.

I "pulled the lever" for Bush, Alan Keyes, and Ray Wardingley (IL-1) (the pubbie going up against the incumbent former black panther Bobby Rush). Voted (R) for everything else, no funny business at about 6:30am. My parents, my in-laws, and my wife all plan to vote later for Bush, Keyes, and Wardingley as well.

RURAL MICHIGAN IS COMING OUT BIG TIME! I voted at 7:00 and was the 70th in line!!! Usually this little firehouse is a stroll in, chat, vote, and stroll out with half a dozen at at time. This is Christian Bush Country and we have Bush and Gay Marriage on the ballot. It is cold and drizzly in RatTown (Detroit). Hope that keeps the fraud machine running poorly, though there is no doubt there will be some.

Hmm. the election people are probably all Democrats and knew all women would take WWAAAAYYY too long to vote after being mesmerized by W's blue eyes!! ;-)

Or, it might take them too long after trying not to vomit looking at JFK.

The President just voted in Crawford and will be on his way to Ohio, then to the WH to watch the returns. Laura Bush is really a very beautiful woman.

Thanks for the update! Indeed she does. So is Barbara Bush. Barbara and my grandmother were friends. She used to be envited to the tea parties at the White House when President Bush (sr) was in office.

My grandmother was on both President Eisenhower and Nixon’s staff during their presidencies. I have pics of her on AF-1 and in the Oval Office with President Nixon. She also was a good friend of Senator Joseph McCarthy. Unfortunately she passed on a long time ago. (She passed on just before the Clinton years. They would have broke her heart)

I used to listen with rapt attention to her tales of DC and the inner workings of the White House/Senate. She was quite prominent in the Republican Party of those times. :-)

I'm in the northern suburbs of Atlanta a Republican stronghold.Arrived at the polls at 6:20 (polls open at 7)Long lines. when the polls opened at 7 took about an hour and 20 minutes. Lines just as long when I came out. It's drizzling rain and foggy out. Lines longer then 2000 - GO W.

PLEASE correct this post. All of your times are PST. Here in Virginia polls close at 7PM EST. This is just the kind of mis-info that could reduce turnout
