PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE III (live thread)
10.13.04 | Joe, and the rest of FR.

Posted on 10/13/2004 5:19:44 PM PDT by Joe Hadenuf

45 minutes to go. If there is already a live debate thread go ahead and delete this.

I understand posting a live thread has become a somewhat of a political ordeal here, when it shouldn't be. So to take the pressure off, I'm posting this anyway. Do I dare? LOL!

EVERYONE on FR should be signing up to man the phones or knock on the doors in the days leading up to the election. Not only will you be doing a good deed, it's going to be a lot of fun!

If many of the undecided viewers tonight were women, Bush won on the last question. Can't explain it, but he touched the hearts of many (speaking about Laura and the girls), and sKerry came across as a heartless prick. "

Exactly! LOL
My hubby said the same thing. Kerry kept talking about Laura, and said nothing endearing about his hag. She should be pissed as hell!

"Mr Reeves, at least, was not paged to the debate."

No, but Kerry had Michael J. Fox in the On Deck circle.

The lamestream can and will spin this all they want. Kerry spent most of the night on the defensive and looked like death warmed over. He literally looked like a guy who sleeps in a casket all day and comes out only at night.

The camera hates Kerry. Close up all you notice is the Botox and the dental work. A medium shot shows you that he is a supercilious scarecrow. Just think: the camera adds 15 lbs. Kerry must look like skeleton in person. A gray cadaver w/too much rouge and blindingly white false teeth.

The camera loves Dubya. You see his emotions on his face, the depth in his eyes and in a medium shot, you notice the sheer manly good looks of the guy. He was sunburned today. Bet he was out mountain biking in the sun.

I heard one Phoenix talk show host earlier today on FOX say they estimate that 40,000 people were scheduled to show up at the Bush rally after the debate.

"Bush finally mention Kerry voted against first Gulf War. Its about time!"

I'd have mentioned this at least 3 times every debate. Wouldn't you think Shiefer would ask this question:

Senator Kerry, you voted against the first gulf war despite UN resolutions and 34 countries on our side. Do you understand why some might question your committement to defend this country?

I agree with you. Kerry and Bush are polar opposites in the way their styles register with you. Kerry is impressive at first glance, but then you ruminate on what he said and you see the holes. Bush stumbles around but what he says holds up and even strengthens as you turn it over in your mind. It's like the substance of Kerry's speech fades, but Bush's blooms.

Which I guess is just another way of stating the style vs. substance point. But these two guys really represent the extremes of that formulation.

I gotta say, though, that Bush knocked two of the questions out of the park tonight, stylewise . He had this great natural eloquence on the questions about his faith and the women in his life. He really knocked me out with his answers to those.

If you watch the clip where Kerry brings her up by name, you can almost see his thoughts, 'Oh, God, what did I just say! Well, I have to finish, but I could kick myself.'

EXACTLY! You could see him pause when he said, "she is a.... (at this point he recognized that he was screwed because his lead-in left him nowhere else to go)...(visible sigh)..lesbian". At which point, he knew he'd unalterably stepped in it.

Great debater? Ha! A man who knows all the nuances of debate, but makes fatal errors in revealing his severely-flawed inner nature is not a "great" debater.

That picture tells it all. Chris Wallace commented that he seemed in a bit of a hurry to get off the stage.

I think he truly disdains gays. And I think his constant attacks on the Cheneys' supports it.

My remarks were mainly focused on PresBush. I was disappointed in his perfromance. I would have enjoyed seeing the President be more combative like he was in Cleveland last week. If someone attacks me, I return the favor, or at the very least correct the record.

But don't get me wrong.

As for John Kerry, he came prepared for the debate. And his royal smugness was front and center. The man has the personality of a door knob. Kerry will make any promise to get elected. That was part of the Clinton strategy in 1992 and throughout his Presidency. The influence of Carville, Begala and Lockhart are obvious in Kerry's endless attacks on Bush and his endless stream of promises.

Yeah that was my wife's view. She wanted to roll tape again just to make sure she heard it right. She did.

Kerry is nothing but a cheap two bit opportunist, fitting of the gigolo tag.

What I don't understand is how McAuliffe kept his job with the Dems after losing the White House in '00and then overseeing an asskicking by the Ree-pubs in the 2002 elections.

He must have some prime blackmail material on the other Dem bigwigs.

Kondracke really surprised me with his anger and he also directed it, correctly, toward Edwards. I think the President whipped Kerry tonight.

Did Lynne Cheney just say that it was tawdry for Kerry to have brought this up?

Vicious comment. Nasty comment. Low-down comment.

I liked it. A lot.
