**"shake it like a Polaroid picture"?**
Remember when Polaroids first came out? They told you to shake the picture -- that would help it develop.

I'm 55 yo with 24 yo twins and I have to agree with you. They came off as charming and genuine with a heartfelt love for their Mom and Dad and their Grandparents!
If I was 30 years younger and single, I would think that they are just plain hot!!!!!!

If there is one thing that came across with the girls, it is that the Bush family is just like any other. The girls are normal American teens and not royalty or contrived princesses.
They love their father!
I think that is exactly what was intended.

They truly represent the young, college kids of their day. A lingo & humor all their own. Much of it stemming from the movies they watch -- which appeal to their age group. I wasn't too impressed, but I told my wife that my 19 year old daughter could probably relate. Overall I think it probably worked for pulling in some undecided younger voters.

It may take more insight or wisdom than many observers possess to recognize, much less appreciate, that these young ladies have indeed been brought up with unconditional love.
Those who prefer sham or the dour may exhibit concern over "appearances". Those who prize the unadulterated, the sincere, will treasure them for what and who they are; looking forward with certainty to the quality of grace that maturing will bring to them.
Surely their grandparents are too astute not to treasure them and far too perceptive to be embarrassed because they are ingenues.

Lets be honest, the Bush twins were NOT ready for prime time. We only get 1 hour a night for three days to make our case to the American people. The time would not have been WASTED if Rudi had been given that time slot tonight.
All one has to do is compare the two:
"Sex in the City," "shake it like a Polaroid" and lame hampster jokes, OR:
The words of the man who faced and helped overcome one of the greatest crises in our nations history. A brave man who boldly outlined the threat we face and took his stand for the President of the United States.
Needless to say, it is over and done. Lord willing, the powers that be will not make the same mistake twice.

Good testimony there, Dr. Deb!

I am glad for one time we didn't pander to the networks. If they'd moved Rudy, the networks would have done Monday instead of Tuesday.

If that is so, perhaps it answers the question with regard to those of his household.
I refuse to believe that he is that void of perspective.

Too many folks here or elsewhere are used to perfect speeches and canned , edited routines. The Twins did a fine job putting some laughs into a serious event....... They are not professional speakers, they are daughters who whithout doubt clearly love their father and mother enough to "try" and do a good job !
I think they did..........

They took a risk with the twins and it didn't work. What on earth did you expect? They sounded like a couple of just graduated college girls lovingly poking fun at their Mom and Dad and grandparents. Nice to see that kind of affection nowadays.

I didn't like the sex joke -- sort of a slam against all married couples.I didn't consider it a slam. I thought it was a cute way to lovingly poke fun at their Gammie. She IS of the generation that didn't talk incessantly about their sex lives, unlike the generations that have followed.

For all who think they flopped, THIS is on the front page of the Washington Post. And, I predict, a lot more morning papers will carry it.
It doesn't matter what they said or what's said about them. Grannys' hearts will melt.

From what some people said about their teenagers and college aged kids tonight, I think Jenna and Barbara had a few converts.
Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate the humor after having raised five children.

What a great picture. Those folks are just a nice family, and I think that's what most folks will get out of it if they saw the girls tonight.

They won nearly everyone over with their humor and charm. Light-hearted moments add a great deal that is positive to serious events. And they are beautiful girls.
