WASHINGTON (AP) Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry's military service ''dishonest and dishonorable'' and urged the White House on Thursday to condemn it as well.
''It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me,'' McCain said in an interview with The Associated Press, referring to his bitter Republican primary fight with President Bush.

Sen. McCain should understand that this is just both sides coming out. First we heard Skerry side and now we hear the other side. Thats all. I think Kerry can defend himself though without our help, I mean after all he's got that one Green Beret on his side who say Kerry saved his life.
I would like to see the GOP focus more on what Kerry did after he came back against our troops and for the enemy in America, than what he did for our troops and against the enemy in Nam.

I guess McCain’s value system places friendship ahead of truth and national security.
Bush people should also take note that it's obvious McCain does not consider W a friend, since he has no problem criticizing him any chance he gets.
McStain is such a typical leftist. Kerry's Vietnam campaign opened wounds first. The wounded are trying to fight back by telling what they know. NOW McCain leads the "why can't we all just put it behind" us campaign.

These days, former Vietnam War POW Sen. John McCain has nothing but praise for his fellow Vietnam veteran Sen. John Kerry, the Democrats' current presidential front-runner.

Technically true, but it ignores the reality that they were serving together within yards of one another. Kerry was not commanding a destroyer or aircraft carrier. He was operating a small boat with a crew of 6 including himself. The boats operated together with other boats, not independently. As I said on another thread, it is like the quarterback saying he did not serve with the middle linebacker. They may be on different units, but they are on the same team.

In his 2002 book, "Man of the People: The Life of John McCain," Alexander says that the two Vietnam vets finally reconciled in the early 1990s after having "a long - and at times emotional - conversation about Vietnam" during a mutual trip to Kuwait.
Later, Kerry sought to minimize the rift, telling Alexander: "Our differences occurred when we were kids, or at least close to being kids. It was a long time ago, and we both came back and realized that there were a lot of difficulties in the prosecution of that war."

Hey McInsane... the truth hurts doesn't it? If Kerry's accusers are liars that will become evident in due course. On the other hand if what they say IS true, I'd want to know about that before I go into the voting booth. Negative advertising is feared only by politicians who don't want the public to know something about them they don't want the public to know. With apologies if so noted by another poster - In wondering why McCain would suddenly turn on the Swiftboat vets, I thought I remembered that it was McCain who helped Kerry derail the Vietnam Human rights Bill, HR2883, in 2001, after it had passed the House by a 411 to 1 vote. If I am right on this, it would seem they have some pro-Vietnam kinship. Does anyone else find this curious?
Rush said that it wasn't the same firm that produced the anti-McCain ads, that this firm had pulled out of the anti-McCain ads and the job was taken over by someone else. McCain better get his facts straight.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. If John Kerry, while serving in Viet Nam, was half a bad as what is being alleged, there would exist permanent letters in his military file. There are many reasons I wouldn't vote for John Kerry. Accusations without any supporting documentation is not one of the reasons. If any disciplinary actions ever had to be taken against John Kerry, even a letter, they are documented, would remain in his permanent file, and they should be revealed.
BTW, as a veteran, I stepped on a lot of toes while serving. I don't know of anyone that didn't from time to time.
