"McCain said that's all in the past to him, but he's speaking out against the anti-Kerry ad because 'it reopens all the old wounds of the Vietnam War, which I spent the last 35 years trying to heal.' "

McStain is such a typical leftist. Kerry's Vietnam campaign opened wounds first. The wounded are trying to fight back by telling what they know. NOW McCain leads the "why can't we all just put it behind" us campaign.

McCain: Hanoi Hilton Guards Taunted POWs With Kerry's Testimony

These days, former Vietnam War POW Sen. John McCain has nothing but praise for his fellow Vietnam veteran Sen. John Kerry, the Democrats' current presidential front-runner.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/2/17/124410.shtml McCain is mouthing the Dem talking points when he says that "none of these individuals served on the boat (Kerry) commanded." Technically true, but it ignores the reality that they were serving together within yards of one another. Kerry was not commanding a destroyer or aircraft carrier. He was operating a small boat with a crew of 6 including himself. The boats operated together with other boats, not independently. As I said on another thread, it is like the quarterback saying he did not serve with the middle linebacker. They may be on different units, but they are on the same team.

From the Boston Globe online...3/27/2004:

"We don't have a broken government, we have a broke value system." John Kerry

"...he talks about "Two Americas"....Kerry is suitably shocked when he talks about "this stunning reality" of haves and have-nots in America in 2004."

"...He is outraged over a family that can't take showers or make lemonade because of a contaminated water suppy. He is worried about 9 million latchkey children,

Kerry wants to raise income taxes on "the rich", namely those who make more than $200,000 a year, to address these and other problems.
Be that as it may:

From the Washington Times:

The Heinz-Kerrys have at least five homes and vacation getaways worth over $33 million dollars.

Boston - five story, 12-room Louisburg Square home. The Square has a gated private park in the center for residents only, and guaranteed free private parking in a city where the mayor can't find a spot for his car.

Nantucket - three story, five bedroom waterfront home with a view uncluttered by the windmill farm proposed for the shallows off the coast. (It would provide power for all the offshore islands and 3/4 of the energy needs of Cape Cod). But Kerry, Kennedy and Cronkite, among others, oppose the alternative energy wind farm because of "environmental" reasons, although the issue probably has more to do with spoiling the offshore view.

Washington D.C. - 23 room house in Georgetown with art and antique collection. Kerry can camp out here next time he decides to protest at Nixon's house.

Ketchum Idaho - built from an English barn dating from 1485. The Kerrys had a river diverted here to provide irrigation for their yard, and the Idaho tax payers picked up the bill.
Fox Chapel, PA. nine room Colonial on nearly 90 acres of land, also filled with art and antique collections.

Kerry's Vietnam campaign opened wounds first.
I guess McCain thinks Republicans have to abide by a higher standard -- but just what that could be remains mysterious. :') I mean, it ain't a very high bar that the Dims set...
