I realize that...the Americans are there to help the Iraqi people or are in SA to help there. The guy was an engineer. AQ wants to murder ordinary Americans. Nothing has changed since 911. When AQ or some fringe group captures a US citizen, priority should be to get the person out. Period.

What I want to know is.....Why is the US not acting fast enough and getting these hostages out??? We know these ingrates are going to kill him so sitting around discussing it is not the way to go.

From what I hear, it was up to the Saudi's to try to find Paul.  Since it's on Saudi's land, and since Saudi is supposed to be supporters of ours, they were responsible to try and rescue Paul.  But........the security in Saudi for situations such as this is not good.  They can secure their own Kings, etc, but in situations like this, they can't do anything.  Doesn't make sense to me.

Also, all American's have been highly advised to leave Saudi.  But they say this is not feasible.  The American's are doing a lot of important work with the oil and just can't pick up and leave.  If I worked over there, and could not leave, I would make sure my family got back to the states.
