LIVE THREAD--Reagan State Funeral Ceremony: Lying in State at the Rotunda (6/11/04)
I saw it live thank you...
that guy if president Ford and his wife
Ford could be wiping a tear. The Clintons almost look like they are dead.
Karzai looked very touched and honored to be at the service.
It was excessively hot in Washington the last two days. I just noticed some viewers at Andrews AFB shivvering and wearing sweaters. It must really have cooled their today.
I am recording in a High quality MPG format. It is really good, but has a high storage!!! But, that is ok. I am stopping the recording quickly, around every 10-15 minutes. To keep the mpg's or vob files as small as possible. This makes the DVD as compact as possible. I am sure that this is going to be from 3-5 DVD's in total.
LOL Yes I was talking about the one and only ex commander in heat - He must have had a rough night last night. So many interns - so little time.
Thank you. It is magnificent. You may want to check out the other link, a rendition of the West Point Glee Club. The page that features it has the poem about poppies on Flanders Fields. Made me cry like a baby.
Too little, too late.
Thanks. It's good to be here and to see you, too. :)
I've been flipping around the dial just now, and Wolf Blitzer, of all people, was pretty good. Chris Matthews, on the other hand, has been just horrible -- he's either bashing Bush's politics, or comparing Bush unfavorably with Reagan. He had Georgie Ann Geyer on, who I thought was a conservative, and all she did was bash Bush, saying that Reagan would have never gotten us involved with Iraq. Matthews actually suggested that Reagan may have negotiated with Saddam instead of going to war!
Earlier this morning I wrote about my upcoming citizenship and you people offered me such sweet messages right in the middle of this wonderful thread.
I was so moved by the prospect of becoming a part of this great nation, having viewed it from the "sidelines", and it hit me that I can now aspire to be an American too - and do what I can to live up to the ideals I heard this morning.
Thank you for taking a minute to give me encouragement. I apologize for being selfish - it was the splendor of the moment when it hit me.
There was no other place to write about it but here. Without knowing - this place - the writers here - those who share their thoughts on the topics which abound on FreeRepublic, have helped me to decide there is only one country for me. The U.S.A.
There were so many things to remember and I was fortunate to have taped it all to read again and remember, especially when I raise my hand and Swear My Oath.
"trouble"
You're welcome, and yes it is very moving. I'll be humming it all day today.
I am only watching FOX!!!
My goof, I should have recognized Mr. Ford.
A cold day for our nation to lose such a man as Mr Reagan.......
Thanks for your updates Tom for us herman miller sheep pen prisoners ......
Stay safe !
