For RONNIE REAGAN was a Soldier...fighting for the freedom of All......HOLY...!!!!

Ronnie, I think a lot of American warriors were reassured by the outpouring of appreciation toward Ronald Reagan last week. The press spends so much time denigrating the sacrifices you've made, and arguing that it was done for the wrong reasons. If that's all the troops and veterans ever saw, they'd be very confused about how their fellow citizens feel about their service.

The fact is from one side of the world to the other, and I'm not as quick to judge one area before another as some are, you have fought for what you believed was right. You've fought for western civilization. You've fought for religious, political, and intellectual freedom. You've fought for peace and security for our families as well as our allies. You've even fought for Ted Koppel to sit in his $2,000 suit and tell us how wrong we are.

Americans realize that the press has gotten too full of itself!

The love America is showing for Ronald Reagan is part of the same spirit most of us feel about the military and the duty, honor and service to country each of you has given. Thank you all. I know President Reagan would have wanted us to say that.

President Reagan lived long enough to lead us through some interesting times. Now it's your generation's turn, Ronnie. Americans are listening to you and a lot of other vets. We need you vets who are willing to stand up and speak your minds now more than ever! Take care, and keep it up. It'll be for the Gipper, who would have wanted it for America.

I can try to find it if I get a minute. I don't do Kazaa or stuff like that, though.

I just completed my belated review of this thread. Wow! After last week, I didn't think I could shed another tear.

Having been on business travel, I have unfortunately missed much of the live coverage of President Reagan's memorials in the media, and all of the coverage on FR. I did, however, get to see most of Friday's burial service in Simi Valley.

What a week of joyful remembrance of Ronald Reagan, of what he stood for -- and also of sadness, awe, and gratitude! The eulogies were extraordinary, destined for the archives of history.

The reverence and practiced precision of the military throughout the week made me very proud of them and of our nation. And the roster of those who came to pay their final respects speaks volumes about Ron Reagan's magnificent spirit.

The comportment and generosity of the Reagan family in letting us share in the remembrance of Ron Reagan during their time of grief -- that especially clear when dear Nancy had to be led away from Ronnie's casket for the last time on Friday evening -- was incredible while at times heart-wrenching.

I want to thank my fellow Freepers for your usual -- but this time, perhaps a bit more profound -- thoughtful, passionate, and insightful commentary. And thanks also to those who posted the many remarkable images of the memorial services.

God bless the USA, Ron Reagan, the forces of good, and Freepers!

Ken, there are many in the same boat. May God's sovereign will be done in the lives of all Episcopalians and Anglicans, and may He lead each one.

Peace,
