What does that have to do with anything?

Not at all. In fact, I spend a lot of my time working on three major projects in the area of this place in Manhattan called "Ground Zero."

Well, OK. Being a Canadian, you might not ever hear of Dallas an '80s show covering Texas oil barons. The protagonist, J.R. Ewing, explained the difference between being involved or committed. "It's like a ham and egg breakfast. The hen is involved, the pig is COMMITTED.

Now take a deep breath, and repeat after me . . . Alberta's Child is not a Canadian.

Being an American (like me), you ought to know that the quote you posted was originally used by NASCAR legend Junior Johnson back in the late '60s or early '70s, describing the difference between those who were committed to racing and those who were involved in racing. He was basically belittling the sponsors, owners, etc. who never strapped themselves into a car and hurtled around the track at Daytona at 200+ miles per hour.

Sounds to me that if J.R. Ewing weren't lifting quotes from someone else, he would be about as good a wordsmith as Patrick Ewing.

"Finally, an IDF officer in the early period of the war in Iraq said that the US needs to stop worrying about how it is looked on TV around the world, and do what is necessary both for getting the terrorists and protecting its troops."

Imagine if the US had fought WWII with TV in mind. I am dismayed that fallulah (sp) is still in existence.

I'm sorry, but I must commit hari-kari now.

Deep breath. Have insiders saying that retribution for Fallujah and Al'Sadr is maybe tomorrow. I'll waste what little brain cells I reserve for that. Nite-nite time.

You enjoy yourself, and I expect you to report responsibly what you hear.

"Sarah Brady is trying to rid guns from a stable society. I am advocating eliminating guns and explosives from the populace in a war zone. "

How can we get rid of relatively small items like kalashnikovs when we cannot get rid of RPGs, other heavier ordnance?

Unfortunately, I do not believe the US any longer has the political will to do as you suggest, despite the fact it would be a vast improvement over the current 'strategy.'

Given the variety of hardware still floating around iraq, can we PUT a spectre over a combat area like this without signifigant risk to it?

I wonder how many of these Shia milita bought the farm in this battle? I would assume their losses would be high.

Thanks for the post. But the numbers seem to reflect the combat in the south between the Sadr milita and the coalition forces. I have yet to see anything about how many badguys were killed in Sadar City. It would appear that US troops and Iraqi Police are back in control of the government and police offices in Sadar City.

Thanks for the comments. I too believe that we need to dispel the idea that the US will lose resolve if the attacks continue. Every time they do something like this, I'd add another six months to our long term plans to stay in Iraq. Then I'd get sid-vicious on the perps.

I do hope we crush as many of the perps as we can find.

I'm not sure what's in Fallujah.

IMO, it looks like the coalition should have put the city under a blockade when that prison escape happened several months ago when 50+ detainees escaped.

I think the coalition should put Fallujah, Ramadi, and Habbinayah under a strict blockade. Nobody gets in. Nobody gets out.

Concentrate on Baghdad. It looks like Al-Sadr probably has a role in the insurgency in that city.

Damn it, I'm tired of our nation acting like the 500 pound gorilla which has been caterated, at least when it comes to people disrespecting us in this manner.

I appreciate your post of the article.

With all due respect, your posts have gone downhill to the point that they aren't worth responding to. Take care.
