I don't believe we have done a sector by sector disarmament of many areas in Iraq unfortunately. I believe that is a large part of the problem. And yes you are correct. These RPGs must be removed.

I just wrote to the President urging him to evacuate Fallujah, shoot anyone who comes out armed, then completely flatten the town, flatten the rubble, turn the flattened rubble to dust, and then salt the earth around it. 24 hours of shock and awe. There should be nothing left larger than a pebble to show the world where that town was. And that bridge where the bodies of American contractors hung must be melted to slag.

I hope that you will do the same--even if your sentiments differ from mine. He needs to know that his most loyal supporters are frustrated with his inaction. We could have Clinton in there if we wanted appeasement.

So some jobs were created. THIS is far more important in the long run.

I caught the sarcasm. My position is somewhere in the middle of "what do you suggest, we should just let them kill us" and "kill em all and let God sort em out"...neither position is helpful and assuming that the other side in the arguement believes it is less helpful.

I don't buy the political thing at all. H.W. Bush is roundly cited as losing because we won "too quickly" in Iraq and "didn't finish the job"...and any positives were outweighed by the economy (lied about by Dan Rather specifically and others generally) and that idiot and embarassment to USNA, Ross Perot.

Regardless of the attention span of the mob, I believe that this administration will take the input from the commanders on the ground, just as they have in the past. Looks as thought the Marines are beginning the TCB process today.

The point I posted about this wasn't just my opinion on this -- it was a point of speculation as far back as the winter of 2003. Richard Perle was the Defense Department official who was most vocal in his opinion that the U.S. would make quick work in Iraq, and would be largely finished with their work by the time this election year rolled around. His resignation (about two years too late, in my opinion) under a cloud of disgrace related to his lobbying efforts has obscured the fact that he has been wrong on just about every point in this war.

I have advocated from the start, a complete disarming of the Iraqi populace in preparation for a lasting peace there.

Yes, and the experience will come in handy when the troops get back stateside.

I am dismayed that fallulah (sp) is still in existence.

The SS took care of French towns in the way you suggest. It didn't work. Anyway, we are not the SS.

I've been really surpised to see how many people try to compare the present US climate, populace with guns and the general situations in our nation, to Iraq. Do you folks really think I advocate the removal of guns from citizens in the US, or do you actually think these two nations are comparable in the slightest at the present time?

I'm a big Second Amendment rights guy, myself. Unfortunately, Mr. Bush is not, and neither is Mr. Kerry. I was merely pointing out that the practice our troops are getting in confiscating guns from the population could readily be put into use stateside. Since we are the liberators of Iraq, it is logical, is it not, that Iraqis and Americans should have (or not have) the same rights?

I'm a very strong second ammendment supporter. As far as I am concerned AKs are just fine. When the next LA Riots come, I want one for under our pillows, or perhaps sticking out of our turets.

I don't like seeing armed mobs coming at our guys with Aks or RPG launchers. Perhaps we couldn't round up all the weapons, but if we round up enough it will save US lives.

Thanks for your comments, but I completely reject the idea of our troops taking our weapons, as do you.

I have my doubts that a 130-U over a large city like this would be risk free, at least on daylight service. On the other hand, I figure men in black are doing their maneuvering and logistics at night. With the U-130's infra red capabilities, I think 2 at a time over Falluga would give the Marines some good night movies to watch.
A couple of weeks of this would be hard on the nerves.
