January 27, 2004--Senator John Kerry has pulled to within three points of George W. Bush in the Rasmussen Reports national tracking poll. Yesterday, Kerry trailed by five points.
Kerry is the most competitive of all Democrats in a general election match-up with the President. He is also the top choice among all Democrats to win the party's Presidential nomination.
Senator John Edwards trails the President by just five points, 45% to 40%.
Before the Iowa caucuses, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean and retired General Wesley Clark were the most competitive Democrats. Both now trail Bush by double digit margins.
Survey results show that a generic Democrat polls better than any individual candidate at this point in time.
These results are from a national telephone survey of 1,500 Likely Voters conducted by Rasmussen Reports over the past three nights. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points, with a 95% level of confidence.
Survey data showing the race between President Bush and a generic Democrat is updated daily on this site by noon.

I hope you can "educate" them yourself, you seem to be the only one smart enough.
(The Arkansas hillbillies thought that too.)

actually, its what most people on this board are trying to do, I guess with the exception of you.
To: oceanview
Actually, I have met very few elitists on this board. Certainly no one nearly as smart as you.

i don't know why you are tossing this "elitist" word around. ask anyone on this board if they think the typical Dem voter is ignorant. Sean Hannity does a radio segment everyday where he finds some random people at Penn Station and asks them a few simple questions and makes this point everyday, is he an "elitist" also?

How dare you speak of this lovely Irish-Catholic gentleman in such tones of anger! Did you not know that Ted Kennedy is campaigning for him and that Ted is none other than the brother of the holy saint and martyr, St. John Fitzgerald Kennedy himself?
How can you be living with yourself? America is in grievous trouble and these two have come forward to save us out of nothing but their love for those whom a whimsical god hath fortunately placed beneath them. Support this effort, my good man. Put Ketchup on everything, wash it down with Scotch Whiskey. Funds will pour into the Kerry-Kennedy War Chest and America will be saved.

Elitist slap at fellow citizens. Most people think Clinton was impeached for having sex.
To: lasereye
of the ones who recall that he was impeached, yes.

As an Irish-Catholic myself, I have to PROUDLY say that there is no Irish blood in John F'n Kerry whatsoever.
His surname was changed from Kohn when his family came from Austria, and his mom's side is blueblood Brahmin.

Actually, I am not sure that was true because he actually used a phone automated method to get responses. He probably was getting responses from real ghosts or aliens for all he knows.

Relax it is early yet. The Demorats have been in the spotlight for the last couple of months, the media being more that willing, and the Republicans have not fired one shot yet. It might be closer than we would like but Bush will prevail. Ask yourself this question; Can a raving liberal from Mass. with a voting record more lefty than his bloated fellow Mass. senator win in a general election. Rove has plenty of ammo to fire at this turkey! Relax man.

Absolutely!! They have gotten 24-hr. coverage for days now....free!! The media has devoted ALL ITS RESOURCES to the Dems. I am mad and am not going to take it anymore. I do not understand why conservative talkshow hosts, i.e. Hannity, Boortz, felt it necessary to give these morons all the free campaigning!! Don't they know that we have no use for them!
GW has had a bad few wks since the immigation debacle, SOTU, WMD's! Going to NH now will be a bit anti-climatic! Someone needs to take the GOP message out there quick and outdo these libs on the AIR!!

People in Maine may sniff out phonies, but this campaign has Democrats not voting for policies, character, etc. but for the one that has the best chance of beating Bush.
They do not care who the Dem. nominee is. The only thing impt to them now is electability. Popularity has nothing to do with it. Policies have nothing to do with it. Their whole energy totally devoted to whipping Bush...no matter who it is.
When that is the goal, and nothing else, it will be quite difficult for Bush and Co. to combat..esp. with question marks among conservatives.
To: whadizit
I think you are getting a bit too worried without waiting for the real campaign to start.
With all the hype about polls, they are notoriously wrong. Rasmussen is a big time Leftie himself and a Dem pundit.
Wait till the Pubbies launch their ads as well as start counter punching the DUm's lies.
The idea of such false information getting out to the lukewarm voters out there who would otherwise stay home because they think plenty of Pubbies will show up and win without needing their vote, this may have the opposite effect. They may become extremely motivated and get out to the pols because they don't want a repeat of last election.

---It simply is so hard to accept that 41% of the American people are either blind, stupid, or socialists.---
Kerry will be a good candidate for the Dems. If they're anti-war, well, Kerry was a big-time anti-war leader. If they're pro-military, well, Kerry was a war hero. And so on. The trick is, if Kerry starts to look inevitable, to pick the aspect of Kerry that they find attractive and discount the rest.

You KEEP forgetting...the Supreme Court TOOK 3 months of ads AWAY from us...time is short...Moveon.org is beginning their attack ads against BUSH NOW...so is the group that Soros is funding....the dark side KNOWS how to fight..the GOP leadership does not...never has....
It was the INSURANCE company ads that killed Hillary-care, NOT the GOP....Now is the time...later is too late.
To: FlipWilson
Wow!! So, in other words, if the election were held today and the President was not allowed to campaign, the Democrats might stand a chance. So true! Things will be different later won't they?

Is Sean Hannity thinks that people in general are dumb and he or some group or Republicans are smart, then he is an elitist too. But I don't think you will hear him say that.
Heaven help the country if you and Sean Hannity are examples of the smart ones.

Surely now you have that wrong. Is this not the same Celtic Kerry boyo who has been prancing around the Bay State lo these many years doing every thing but a Galway Reel and tearfully singing "Mother McCree?" In fact, I claim the Massachusetts voters actually think Kerry IS a Kennedy!
It's dark in those MA voting booths, and as the typical Boston voter bends over, all he can read is the K and the Y. This has allowed the Kennedys and the Kerry to slip into office, along with Barney Frank.
