PICTURE OF NIAGARA FALLS APPEARS ON AL-QAEDA WEBSITE

The Buffalo branch of the F.B.I. confirms the news with Channel 2: that they are aware of a known Al-Qaeda website that posted a picture of Niagara Falls. A picture that was taken at night from high above, facing the American side of Niagara Falls.

NBC News is reporting that the F.B.I. is concerned about the picture, and the fact that a picture of Niagara Falls was posted on a known Al-Qaeda website.

The web address of that Al-Qaeda website is based somewhere in the United Kingdom, and is no longer an active Internet link.

Channel 2 News tried logging on to that website, but an error page popped up every time.

According to NBC News, there are pictures of known hijackers and familiar Al-Qaeda images on the website.

There were a number of different image files on that Al-Qaeda website, including the following file names:

“Atta Group.”

“Flight 11 Seating.”

“Department of Mayhem.”

“Surprise.”

“Bin Laden.”

And the one file name that is causing concern within the FBI here at home:

“NiagraFallsatnight,Canada.jpg,” with the file name not adding the letter “a” to correctly spell “Niagara.”

According to NBC News, the F.B.I. is troubled by the addition of the Niagara Falls picture on the known Al-Qaeda website, and that the F.B.I. is studying the image for any potential secret messages embedded in the photo, who posted it, and why?

“I doubt very much that Al-Qaeda is carrying out tourist trips to Niagara Falls. The odds are much more likely that it is the subject of potential targeting for Al-Qaeda,” said NBC News Terrorism Analyst Steve Emerson.

Channel 2 News did talk to Buffalo F.B.I. Spokesman Paul Moskal about our story. He released this statement:

“Nationally and internationally, the F.B.I. has not received any information indicating any person, group, or location within any area in Western New York, that is being targeted by Al-Qaeda,” said Moskal in his statement.

I live about 4 miles from the brink of the falls. The power intakes are at the northern tip of Grand Island where I live.

When they open the intakes the water level on the Niagara River drops about 2 feet. Years ago the Corp of Engineers installed what they call the Ice Boom at the mouth of the Niagara where Lake Erie ends.
The reason? In the spring huge chunks of ice will float down the river taking out docks and mostly because the ice would clog up the intakes. The intakes get clogged stops the flow of water and shuts down the Power generating station.
Going over the gorge is one international bridge, a few miles down the road is another. When the attack on 9-11 occurred the police shut down the Robert Moses to all traffic. Yes there is a threat, shut down the intakes and shut down the east coast.

BTW, the last guy to go over the falls survived, he went over we beleive to commit suicide, he survived completly unharmed. There is the possibility that if you can catch on of the swirls you can survive. Only 2 have ever survived going over without a barrel. This idiot and a young boy that fell out of a boat and went over with just a life vest on.

Look up at the top of the pic. You can see the north Grand Island Bridge.
Just before it on the left side of the pic you see a group of lights, those are the intakes.
Over to the right is Grand Island, that is where I live.

I think that is only a picture of a mercedes.

I did a google search and found quite a number of similar type of pictures of mercedes like this. I don't recognize the man in the car. Could just be a model marketing the product...could be the guy that posted the picture showing himself off in an expensive car.

Anyone else recognize him? And why?

I grew up in Rochester, NY and have probably been to the Falls about 50 times.... my great-aunt lived there until a few years ago.

I drive over the north bridge all the time and see the mist rising from the splash.

I know what you mean about only seeing the Falls when someone comes to visit... I've lived the last several years in the Poconos and that is how NYC is for us.
