The Buffalo branch of the F.B.I. confirms the news with Channel 2: that they are aware of a known Al-Qaeda website that posted a picture of Niagara Falls. A picture that was taken at night from high above, facing the American side of Niagara Falls.

NBC News is reporting that the F.B.I. is concerned about the picture, and the fact that a picture of Niagara Falls was posted on a known Al-Qaeda website.

The web address of that Al-Qaeda website is based somewhere in the United Kingdom, and is no longer an active Internet link.

Channel 2 News tried logging on to that website, but an error page popped up every time.

According to NBC News, there are pictures of known hijackers and familiar Al-Qaeda images on the website.

There were a number of different image files on that Al-Qaeda website, including the following file names:

“Atta Group.”

“Flight 11 Seating.”

“Department of Mayhem.”

“Surprise.”

“Bin Laden.”

And the one file name that is causing concern within the FBI here at home:

“NiagraFallsatnight,Canada.jpg,” with the file name not adding the letter “a” to correctly spell “Niagara.”

According to NBC News, the F.B.I. is troubled by the addition of the Niagara Falls picture on the known Al-Qaeda website, and that the F.B.I. is studying the image for any potential secret messages embedded in the photo, who posted it, and why?

“I doubt very much that Al-Qaeda is carrying out tourist trips to Niagara Falls. The odds are much more likely that it is the subject of potential targeting for Al-Qaeda,” said NBC News Terrorism Analyst Steve Emerson.

Channel 2 News did talk to Buffalo F.B.I. Spokesman Paul Moskal about our story. He released this statement:

“Nationally and internationally, the F.B.I. has not received any information indicating any person, group, or location within any area in Western New York, that is being targeted by Al-Qaeda,” said Moskal in his statement.

I have close family in upstate NY .. this concerns me very much.

My father's side of the family resides in Niagara Falls NY. He (my father) got out of there after high school...got into the Navy, and ended up in the Chicago (Great Lakes Naval base), met my mother, got married...etc, etc. In a way, I'm indebited to the economicly depressed area (and crappy American-side tourist attractions...the Canadian side is much nicer) of Niagara Falls NY for my very existance LOL!

Not really, its a blackout.. just had one not long ago... if a temporary black out is best they got.... they are gnats.

If they get those tunnels or just the raceways into to the generators, it won't be what I would call temporary. The tunnels would be the worst, but they are probably a pretty "hard" target, both security and physically speaking.

I don't think any seriously dangerous information or codes will be passed by subliminal or hidden writing on the pic itself.... it's just too easy to bury a file completely within it using a stego program. Plus you can password protect the stego process itself AND heavily encrypt the hidden message inside.

IMHO, that will be how they pass any important information regarding plans for attack.

9/11/2001 happened because the west allowed a network to grow unchecked in places like Afghanistan they could set up bases and coordinate troops and movements and plans... that doesn't exist anymore... there is no coordinated effort or attack.... when terrorists are pressured by states all they have is uncoordinated attacks...

Overall coordination came from OBL in Afghanistan, but he could just as well have been in a cave in the "Northwest Frontier" provinces of Pakistan, or a coffee house in Bavaria or France, the latter was the place where Khomeni schemed to take over Iran back in the days of the Peanut President.

Last week, there was a story about 'new' video footage of the towers being struck which was loaded onto a terrorist website. The video was previously only known to the FBI - how did AQ get a hold of it?

I thought the theory was that they shot it. One of their compatriots that is, since they are now complaining to Allah about the lack of virgins. Or being tormented for all eternity by 72 Virginians, Washington, Jefferson, Madison, etc, etc., plus perhaps one eceedingly PO'd Pennsylvanian named Ben.
