Moderator note: I know it's going to be tough, but, please watch the calls for violence against this creature.
In a demoralizing message to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq, visiting New York Sen. Hillary Clinton told them that Americans back home are growing increasingly skeptical of President Bush's decision to send them into battle.
Describing two meetings with G.I.s over turkey dinners in Baghdad, Sen. Clinton told reporters later that soldiers wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."
Clinton said she told the troops, "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies."
She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."
Despite her sour pronouncements, the former first lady insisted that the soldiers were just as glad to see her as they were President Bush, whose surprise visit less than 24-hours earlier was greeted with standing ovations.
"It's a positive for the commander-in-chief to visit troops in the field," Clinton told reporters, adding, "the troops [also] seemed to appreciate seeing myself."
Speaking from a secure location just over the Kuwaiti border, Mrs. Clinton launched one verbal salvo after another at the White House, arguing that Bush officials had been "obsessed" with getting Saddam Hussein and saying the perception blinded them to the difficulties of deposing his regime.
"The Pentagon tried to make do with as few troops as possible, as light a footprint as they could get away with," Clinton said. "Now, we're playing catchup . . . Unfortunately, I don't think they fully appreciated the conditions we would encounter."
The top Democrat also reprised her charge that the White House is being less than candid when it comes to apprising the American people of the costs of the war.
"The obstacles and problems here are much greater than the administration usually admits to," she said, adding, "Everybody has to be honest."

well....we should all pray that she is detested by more than 49.9999% of the voters when and if she makes her run for POTUS.
She could plunge this nation into civil turmoil.

Good point. But the alternative to having her run now is to have her around, sabotaging the Administration until 2008. Let's just let her run, and see what happens.

First of all, the only reason that Mrs. Clinton could not be brought up on treason charges is because she doesn't advocate the overthow of the sitting government by violence. Congress should censure her on a non-partisen basis. She may have killed her political career by doing such a stupid, insensitive, inapropriate thing to troops in the war theater. Those of us that were in Viet Nam and other area's surrounding, remember what happened to Jane Fonda for what she did. The same will happen to Hillary Clinton. ****next comment removed so Moderator won't pull post*****

PhiKapMom, I saw comments from you about starting a new thread. Did this happen yet? Can you ping me there?
I'm waiting for more questions to be answered to see if there is any other recourse we can take other than writing letters (we all need to continue this; but I'm angrily hoping for more of a recourse).

Congress should censure her on a non-partisen basis. Hitlery's no fool...she carefully chose her words; nevertheless, the spirit of those words betrayed her true meaning...which is blatantly obvious: She, indeed, wishes for a violent overthrow of the President and his policies.....
But unstated wishes are not grounds for the charge of treason; I continue to believe, however, she is guilty of sedition.

Isn't it a good thing Hillary was trolling for lefty votes back home, because she's making no friends among the military. Of course, we know she hates the military. What a contrast to President Bush's visit. President Bush was in and out, tying up no troop strength for his own security. He went to boost morale, she went to bust it. AND tied up military resources needed elsewhere. She and her entourage received full military security, including armor and Apaches for their America bashing, troop-busting tour.

Clinton told reporters, adding, "the troops [also] seemed to appreciate seeing myself."This is ungrammatical. "Myself" should be used when the subject and object of the clause are they same. But they aren't. Why doesn't an Ivy League graduate know this?
Perhaps Hillary and her self are different people. I could accept that.

sedition: incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority
Clinton said she told the troops, "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies." She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."
In other words, if the military continues to follow the Bush Administration, and its policies, they're doing something wrong....if the military continues to follow the course before them, they're committing needless suicide....hence, to do the "right" thing, to effect a "right" outcome and save your lives, stop following this course....question that authority (Bush).
In what other spirit and intent is there but that "rational" conclusion achieved if one "reads between the lines?"
To: Baynative
thus the basis for democrats opposition to the (FORMATION OF?) a committee on "UNAMERICAN ACTIVITIES".

1. To see just how the troops and military will react to her.
2.To see how far she can push the American public.(She could always apologize and say she was insensitive and she would be a bigger hero)
3. She is coming off the fence and wants to try to coopt the troops for a 2008 bid.
Just my opinion of course..

She is coming off the fence and wants to try to coopt the troops for a 2008 bid. But, they HATE her.....even she isn't stupid enough to believe that anything she could ever do or say would ever cause the military to change their mind or feelings.
To: nicmarlo
I hope God has an encounter with her, real soon..... Nina Tottenberg, welcome to FR.
That's an inside joke. Nina Tottenberg is NPR's "Angel of Death" because she keeps wishing people dead during he commentaries.
