WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The largest anti-war rally in the nation's capital since President Bush announced the end of major combat operations in Iraq was greeted by an equally boisterous, if not as large numerically, group of the president's policy supporters.

This past weekend, United Press International's Mark Benjamin...broke the story that hundreds of injured Iraq War veterans were stranded in dismal barracks at Ft. Stewart, Ga., while they were awaiting medical care.
"They're being treated like dogs," is how one officer who didn't want his name used put it, ... "There is not a smile on this sector of the post. I have never seen as many sad people in one place in all my life."
The situation described by this officer and by UPI was one where injured National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers were languishing while waiting for military doctors to fully diagnose their injuries and do the paperwork for future medical benefits. The veteranssome with injuries that will become lifelong disabilitieswere living in large barracks with double bunk beds and no indoor plumbing. Soldiers who paid $10 day could get a smaller, shared room with air conditioning and a bathroom.
"I've been in [the military] for 30 ½ years and never thought the Army would turn on its own like this," said First Sgt. Gerry Mosley, .... "I am not in a case by myself. They are telling you it's going to be four to six months if you're going through a medical evaluation."
The account given by Mosley and other soldiers at Ft. Stewart is at odds with the support-the-troops rhetoric from top Pentagon and White House officials.

there is "support our troops"...........
......then there is the supporting of our troops

"It's very important to this government to look good," Pacis told United Press International. "And Steve is getting punished for not knowing that." She expects her son to get out of jail in February. Hello?! Didn't this knucklehead join the military? Why would a conscientious objector join the military? Sorry, kiddo - nobody doesn't know what the job of the military is.

I'm from NY. If I had not read this thread, I wouldn't even have known there was a protest.
I don't think many are paying attention to the Marxist/communist protestors. They're a dime a dozen. The left wing kooks always have something to bitch about. If it wasn't the war, it would be something else. They've cried "wolf" so many times, no one really cares.
BUT, I'm glad to hear the FReepers did so well. In Washington, you made an impact. Finally, a sane group showed up. I'll bet the people living in the area found you more than refreshing !!!

Their last gasp may have been back in the 60's... Yep. They're left overs. ""We are the future!", "This is a grass-roots demonstration!" and, "Please throw money in the orange buckets!"
LOL. They're even begging for money to pay for their hate tours! You can tell they're left wing!! They can't even pay for THAT on their own!!

Did you watch the nonsense on CSPAN? 3000, 5000 max, if were being charitable and assuming there were a lot off camera and still "on the buses".

God bless you all, including UPI and other truth-tellers! Wonder if I can still say that in the politically correct world we find ourselves in.

I'm pleased to say I saw no news coverage of the event -- and I watched a lot of news this weekend. It must have been a puny turnout.

Great job as usual by the DC Chapter!
Sickening however, is the way the radical socialists are typified as average Americans by the media.

Yeah, her son could take the payments for doing guard duty every other weekened, but then real war came and her little crybaby son then claimed to be a conscientious objector. Looked a little suspicious to me and obviously to the Government. He deserves to be in jail for longer than 6 months. Of course, she should be embarrassed but she uses anti-war rhetoric as an excuse for his not being willing to serve. He's a coward and she's a useful idiot.

They didn't mentioned how the Lefties came before the first speech and trashed the Jiffy Johns that FR rented. One young fellow urinated and spat all over the inside. A woman came in and spread fecal matter around. It was promptly cleaned up. They made statements about who they really are.
At the end of the last speech one guy tried to interrupt Curtis Sliwa giving the NAZI salute and shouting some incoherent babble.
Given that NAZI stands for National Socialist Workers Party and given that THEY are the ones who cannot tolerate an opposing view - THEY ARE THE NAZIs.
