"I just cringed," said one member of Jeb Bush's extended circle of advisers when asked his reaction to Bush's recent mini-tantrum on the state of the Republican presidential race. "Every politician, at some point, and sometimes justifiably, is pissed off at the voters. But you can't display your frustration with the public."
That's what Bush did, thrusting into public view the deep frustration that has been building as his once-mighty campaign slipped behind not only Donald Trump but other GOP rivals as well.
"If this election is about how we're going to fight to get nothing done, then I don't want to have any part of it," Bush told a Republican gathering in South Carolina Saturday. "I've got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around and be miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that."
The short version: I don't need this. The other guy's a clown, but if that's what you want, vote for him. I've got better things to do...

Trump definitely succeeded in pushing Jeb’s emotional buttons. It seemed like Trump’s comments about W, 9/11 and Iraq did the trick.
I'm not a Yeb! fan by any stretch, but I agree with him. The Republicans spend far too much beating on each other, and far less on policy and philosophy. The fault lies, of course, with the GOPe who figure that's how they get their designated loser by having the media report endless horse race stories of this poll and that poll along with allowing them to run the debates where they ask questions from the left and play one against the other.
I must be following a different presidential race.
quote “I’ve got a lot of really cool things I could do “
yes, we know you would push amnesty if you got elected, thus why you are losing!!!
If he has to, Trump will run a clip of that tantrum in an ad and it will doom Jeb.
Jeb acts more like a child than a real leader.
A spoiled petulant brat who was raised with maids and nannies and has no idea how 99% of the country lives. Please go away now, Jeb.
Trump could not have possibly run a traditional "let's exchange our views on the issues" campaign. Basically, he has had to demean his opponents and to demean their traditional, centrist philosophies. He has had to argue that his opponents are completely unacceptable. Thus, he has called them losers, low-energy sloths, idiots, etc. They are absolutely, totally unacceptable for personal reasons that cannot be changed.
Without this strategy, Trump would be nowhere. And, most of his opponents have no idea how to respond. He has driven Jeb crazy.
That said, I would let up on Jeb for a few days, to allow him to withdraw gracefully, if he does not do well in the most favorable forum that he will have--the CNBC debate. I do not ever like to kick anyone who is down. (But he is fair game in that debate--do not misunderstand my point. The fact that the CNBC regulars have been very partial to Jeb certainly does not entitle him to be babied.)
A GOP-e talking like a loser?? (Boy, is that redundant!!)
Yeb! should withdraw simply on the basis that he pinned the Liberty Medal on Her Heinous's chest. How in the world could a guy who knew he was running in 2016 when she'd be the odds-on favorite for the Dems not see the folly in doing that? It tells you all you need to know why the Bushes ultimately wilt against the other side.
Loser? I think he sounds more like a queso eating surrender primate, or Mr Potato Head.
The slow death spiral has steepened into a crash dive, flames begin to blaze forth....
Jeb out before January, if not sooner. No ground game, no funding, not even much encouragement from formerly trusted sources.
I laugh every time I think of Trump saying Jebbie had to go home and ask mommy and daddy for more money! Just way too funny.
Please spare us from the painful experience of watching/listening to you whining that you're not getting the "toys" mommy and daddy promised!
Even though your older brother promised to step up against the bullies who are giving you trouble, doesn't seem to be all that scary to those bullies like Ted Cruz.
Why don't you head on off to your "cool stuff" waiting for you and ignore those meanies at the Chambers of Commerce, who've used all of their threats and still can't catapult you to the top! Why even that "little firecracker" Marco, seems to beat you at the polls, when everyone who matters, knows you were going to put him on your ticket, but even he's kicking sand in your face!
So stop getting frustrated at the stupid voters, for gosh sakes and take mom's advice, don't run!
I was not questioning your quote of Jeb. Merely your follow up was more agreeable to my view than was his quoted statement. (I was referring to subtle differences in what was emphasized.)
¡No me gusto Yeb Arbusto!
The only time ¡Yeb! ever had a “mighty campaign” was when he was imagining it in his head.
