He cited an online post he had seen from a 17-year-old gay Catholic. "The church has a lot to say about what I'm not supposed to do," the youth wrote. "But ... I couldn't find any church document (about) what a gay person is supposed to do with his life. I feel abandoned by the church."
He said the church teaches much about the beauty of marriage, but then tells its gay members they "can't have this wonderful thing."

Serious question. Came up in our Wednesday Bible Class. If that's what y'all talk about in "Bible Class", you might as well watch The View.

Hi-Tech, these are very good observations. The number of teen boys who don't relate to any man normally--- not to his father, brother, schoolmates or anybody else, and not to God the Father--- is not insignificant.
And that may be what we've got to be on the lookout for: seeing a kid who cannot accept his father's love--- neither of his earthly or heavenly Father --- because of some inner emotional wound.
He certainly can't "get interested" in a normal way with a women, if he doesn't react with anybody like a normal boy or man.

I hear you, and I know what you mean. But, confusingly, a lot of people use the word "gay" to mean either same-sex attracted OR involved in same-sex romantic/sexual relations OR an advocate for various variations (or perversions) of sexuality, without distinguishing one thing from another.
I have more than once misunderstood what another person was saying, because when they said "gay" I assumed they meant "involved in sexual vice," but thy really meant just "same-sex attracted."
You can say, "people shouldn't use the word 'gay' that way," but a lot of people do.

I disagree with you here, ebb tide. None of Pope Francis' talks or writings have stated that "the sins of adultery, polygamy, homosexuality are no longer 'absolutes'". Quite the contrary, he has preached quite a bit against these disorders which are so detrimental to the natural family.

An excellent case can be made that homosexuality is a mental illness (and was in fact once formally recognized as such).
If a person cannot rid themselves of said mental illness, they have no business pursuing marriage.

The love of God can fix ANY love problem. Because it is the source of all other love. I’ve surely gotten to be known around here as a big nut about the love of God but it’s the one thing in all existence most worth digging into. Get in touch with that and you now have an answer to every problem that could exist. Because God is the master of it.

“The Father, for whom every family on heaven and earth is named” — Eph 3:15
A conference about the family that skips a deep, DEEP digging down into the Lord, is just a bunch of empty dogmatic cant. There’s a REASON for it all...

Agreed, just as they did to the Rainbow. Always remember Satan tries to copy God that’s all this is the great impersonator.

Paul used to be mean, really mean. I wonder if he had to learn all about families with fresh eyes, discarding a bundle of old biases and habitual feelings as he did so.

Well pat him on the back and tell him to keep his belt loose and he could become Secretary of the Army one day ... which is more better than marriage any day!
