The Episcopal Church's 77th General Convention concluded Thursday with the adoption of a long list of resolutions, from one that calls on the U.S. Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act to another providing rites for pet funerals.
Episcopal leaders, who met in Indianapolis for over a week, considered dozens of resolutions the most controversial being the approval of transgender ordination and rites for the blessing of same-sex unions.
In protest, leaders from the Diocese of South Carolina, including its bishop, left the convention early after expressing clearly their belief that the decisions mark a departure from Scripture and Anglican tradition.
"These resolutions in my opinion are disconcerting changes to the doctrine, discipline and worship of the Episcopal Church to which every bishop, priest and deacon is asked to conform," said S.C. Bishop the Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence. "More importantly they mark a departure from the doctrine, discipline and worship of Christ as this Church has received them, therein making it necessary for me to strongly differentiate myself from such actions."
Twelve other bishops also released a report to record their dissent.
The Rt. Rev. Michael G. Smith, bishop of North Dakota, stated that the approved resolution on same-sex blessings makes it much harder for them to persuade theological conservatives to remain in The Episcopal Church.

Why don’t they just be done with it and don wizard caps and witches hats, complete with mooney-starry-planety robes and magic wands?
They could unite with the Universalist Unitarian “church” and become the Episcopalian Universalist Unitarian witch’s coven.
Whatever is left of the Episcopal church can go to hell with their pc bs. It is very disappointing to see all these ‘bishops’ endorse sin. I can’t wait to hear their explanations to the Lord when they are called to judgement. Godless heathens.
The Episcopal Church really has morphed into the Unitiarian Universalist Church, they are one and the same now. They certinly don’t believe in Christian doctrine. They are pantheists who see Jesus as a really neato guy who taught socialism.
It appears that, unfortunately, the Episcopal church is well on its way to becoming a social club. Very little God fearing religion left.
Godless.
So when are the Episcopalians going to pass new rules on club membership, black ball procedure and amend their by-laws to make a Social Function Committee a required standing committee.
They are making themselves into a Moose Lodge. . . .
repeal the Defense of Marriage Act to another providing rites for pet funerals.
..........................................................
I was expecting it to say they were providing rites for pet marriages.
I think this very thing was predicted in the end times. They may be a church, but not a true Christian church ... something from the anti-christ side.
Now they are just becoming ridiculous.
This will further split the Episcopal church into two factions: Christian churches and religiously-themed social clubs.
I think it’s time to go Baptist.
I certainly couldn’t go Catholic even though I’ve been invited back by the Pope.
left there years ago along with my family, if they want to try and think that being pro homo agenda, and pro what ever is marriage is alright in order to gain or think they will gain more poeple then they should call themselves the queer killing babies, what eevr goes in order to get money church
These ARE interesting times we’re living in. Don’t forget, God wins.
Unbelievable.
These people need a lot of prayers.
left that so called church, my family and I have had it with them trying to be more open so they think they can get more people in order to get more money.
They’re a joke now and certainly have ignored the holy Bible.
Best more I ever and my family ever did was to get out of that so called religion.
They do not follow anything Christian IMHO.
Not all Catholic Churches are lib spawning grounds. Check us out at St. Mary’s in Kutztown, if you’re ever on this side of the state.
Oh yea, ask for “Stevio”. ;^)
