Here's 3 excerpted paragraphs
DARPA is at it again. This time, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has announced plans to create nanochips for monitoring troops health on the battlefield.
Kate Knibbs at Mobiledia reports the sensors are targeted at preventing illness and disease, the two causes of most troops medical evacuations.
. . .
Bob Unruh at WND reports one of those opponents, Katherine Albrecht, co-author of Spychips says Its never going to happen that the government at gunpoint says, Youre going to have a tracking chip. Its always in incremental steps. If you can put a microchip in someone that doesnt track them
everybody looks and says, Come on, itll be interesting seeing where we go.'

. Some excerpts from WND etc. follow in the comments section.

OK, if people want to make RFID technology into a religious argument, so be it. But for the record there are others who feel this is silly and it’s just the modern day version of the dog-tag.
Not trying be disrespectful, just offering a different view.

And you felt compelled to come on the thread to reinforce that thought, didn't you.

If the Military does it, then we are doomed. We will have to follow suit.

I thought your reply here...
#3...under a different keyword search...to be rather informative of your perspective.
Big Brother to track your medication compliance with electronic transmitters in pills
Like most technologies, there is another side to this, which is beneficial. Of all the things we have to worry about, Id put this WAY down near the bottom of the list.
All "RFID/tracking you" thinking is just silly, isn't it.

Maybe they are demonstrating what happens with microchips by allowing al Qaeda folks to escape from detainment or just by releasing them from custody. The drones will find them and blow them up via microchip tracking.
To: Quix
OK, so aside from the mark of the beast, what happens when the enemy learns how to track our soldiers?
Talk about DUMBASS IDEAS.

I hope Christians will stop joining the military. Leave it for the gays and liberals. There is too much going on with the government that isn’t right for the very best young people to sacrifice their lives for bad, or even corrupt decisions made by clueless, Godless leaders.

"OK, if people want to make RFID technology into a religious argument, so be it." Anyone familiar with RFID technology knows that they are passive, unpowered devices that must rely on inductively or capacitively coupled energy to operate. At best their range is a few centimeters. Any thoughts about remotely tracking or controlling soldiers with these things is pure science fiction.
They do have advantages, though in security situations in which weapons and sensitive equipment can be linked to a soldier or soldiers. These keys in effect disable weapons and gear that is dropped, left behind or taken away from troops rendering them useless.

wrist straps, helmet nubs, heel transmitters, or chips... if YOU can monitor the troops on the battlefield with your tech...
the ENEMY can monitor your troops on the battlefield
this would give the enemy the location of every one of our guys on the field.
this crap doesn’t even pass the tactical smell test

If this chip uses standard RFID technology, any enemy close enough to "track" our soldiers is more than close enough to kill them.
Sounds to me like the idea is to have a foolproof way to ID friendly KIA, which (unlike dogtags) can't be easily lost, defaced, etc. The downside is that a soldier facing capture who wants to conceal his identity, for whatever reason, can't.
I agree that the government has no business attempting to require stuff like this of civilians.
