The parish became the sixth in Seattle to opt out of the petition drive for Referendum 74 that has been endorsed and foisted on parishes by Archbishop J. Peter Sartain.

"Foisted" by the mean, dictatorial Archbishop. Just in case you haven't made up your mind about this thing.

The lavender mafia is still active and assertive in Seattle, it would appear. The move to repeal Referendum 74 certainly got them out into the open.

Your move, bishop.

The standing ovation experienced during one of the Masses says less about me and much more about the health of this parish.

It certainly does, Rev. And its terminal.

“Your move, bishop.”

Yup. Gives the bishop a chance to show everyone just how big a deal he thinks it is or not. He did good for doing it in the first place, but the six parishes are also sending a message to all the others.

Time to remove those 6 parish priests. Where do you think the next sex scandal is going to come from? Leading your flock to hell “Priest”, now That you are going to have to answer for.

I am very saddened to report that the schools have done their job on our grandkids. I picked up some of the petitions thinking I could get ALL my immediate family to sign the petitions. Didn't happen. My grandchildren believe in the equal rights mantra.

Lord forgive me for I did not teach them well. :-(

“The standing ovation experienced during one of the Masses says less about me and much more about the health of this parish. I only wished the archbishop could have experienced the sustained applause — the ‘sensus fidelium’ — of the people. He needs to listen to this ‘voice.’ That is my prayer.”

Uh, ok. So according to this heretic, Catholic dogma is now subject to popular consent?

I will applaud him too - if perhaps he did not advocate for Obamacare, if he declines to register voters in the church, if he indeed shows some good church-state principles.

Lord,
in your love for the Church,
you provide bishops, priests and deacons
as shepherds for your people,
and you call men and women to leave all things
to serve you joyfully in religious life.

May those whom you have raised up
as servants of the Gospel and ministers for your altars
show forth dedication and compassion.

May those whom you have chosen to serve you as religious
provide by their way of life
a convincing sign of your kingdom
for the Church and the whole world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The bishop needs to remove all six of them. Tolerating this stuff just lets it fester.

When Cardinal O’Connor was still with us in New York, he would write a letter that was supposed to be read from the pulpit at every church on Pro-Life Sunday. You could tell all you needed to know about a particular church by whether or not the priest read the letter.

Unfortunately, O’Connor never followed up on his orders, so there was no punishment. That lets these dissidents think they can get away with it. Seeing them get away with it corrupts more people and has a terrible effect on the whole diocese. That’s why New York Catholics cheerfully vote for pro-abortion politicians.

"Opponents of marriage equality need to gather 120,577 valid voter signatures by June 6 to block the state’s new same-sex marriage law from taking effect and put the issue on November’s ballot."

Interesting! So they are are afraid of a vote instead of a small amount of legislators. Gee! I wonder why? Liberal California and Massachusetts had a vote for this form of same sex but was voted down. Now NY knew not to allow the voters but the people in the capital decided. My brother who lives in Ny was very upset.

All it is about is the people voting on the issue. Why would the parish members not want an open vote for november. What is democracy? I know bills are passed in each state capital but why not a vote on this hot issue by the people directly.

“In several parishes, pastors have said that gathering signatures against marriage equality would, in the words of the Rev. Michael Ryan of St. James Cathedral, ‘prove hurtful and seriously divisive in our community.’ “

I am sure the same charges were levied against Christ Himself.

Every day we get closer to chastisement, IMHO.

Tsunami Inundation Of Seattle (NOAA Simulation)

When the Pope John Paul II was in Fulda, during his visit to Germany (from 15th to 19th November 1980) he was asked some questions by a group of people: one question was about the 3rd secret of Fatima and another one about the "near future" of the Church. One of the people present documented the exchange. Names of witnesses are at the editorial office of the magazine "Vox fidei". Below is reported the part of the text from two questions, published (in Italian) in that magazine (issue #10 - 1981).

Question: "What about the third secret of Fatima? It already should have been published in 1960".
Answer (of the Holy Father): "Due to its shocking content and so as not to allow the global power of communism to interfere with the affairs of the Church, my predecessors gave confidential information in a diplomatic way. In addition, it should be enough for every Christian to know what follows: when you read that oceans will flood whole continents, that millions of men will die very suddenly in a few minutes... if this is known, it isn't really necessary to claim the publication of this secret... Many people want to know it just for curiosity and sensationalism: but they forget that "knowing" involves also responsibility... but they just want to satisfy their own curiosity. This is dangerous when at the same time, they don't want to do anything, saying: "It is useless to do anything to improve the situation!". Then the Pope took the Rosary and said: "Here is the medicine against this illness! Pray, pray and don't question further. Recommend all the rest to Our Lady!".

Question: "How will things go with the Church?".
Answer (of the Holy Father): "We must be ready to face great imminent trials, which could also require the sacrifice of our life for Christ... The trials could be reduced through your and our prayers, but they can't be (anymore) avoided, because a true renewal of the Church can take place only this way... just as it has already occurred many times that the Church rose up again through blood. It won't be different either this time. Let's be strong and let's get ready, having faith in Christ and in his Mother. Let's pray much and often the Holy Rosary".

I attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for a few months in the early ‘50s. At that time it was full of airdales from the nearby Sand Point NAS. Very conservative.
They are probably spinning in their graves.
