Mocking Mormonism is one of the last frontiers of verbal lawlessness to be untouched by the vigilante powers of political correctness. What other group is ridiculed equally by Christians and secularistsand not just any kind of Christian or secularist but the most fervent and hard core? Fervent Christians see in Mormonism a mirror distorting their own faith, reflecting an image strangely recognizable yet recognizably strange. Hard-core secularists think Mormonism is the best example of the strangeness and danger inherent in all religious belief. Deriding Mormonism pulls off the neat trick of making the devout and the godless feel as if they are on the same side.

Well said. Mormonism attempts to convert every soul, whether living or dead away from its belief Christian, Hindu, etc...because their belief is to them, "The only True and Living Church" is mormonism as in this address by mormon leader Dallin Oaks in June of 2010.
Those 52,000 mormon missionaries going out every single day do not "respect" any other belief. They scorn non-mormons as "apostates".
Great question. Which only proves that the Church, and not Scripture is the pillar and foundation of Truth. Jesus did not write a Bible but he did established a Church.
Impossible, because it wasn't so, as a Southerner who married a Catholic Southerner, I sure question your Mormon memory.
The BoM states quite clearly that Christ was born in Jerusalem, Alma 7:10 . . . .

It just so happens that Bethlehem is in the suburbs of Jerusalem. Actually from the tiny town of Bethlehem it is 6 miles to the CENTER of Jerusalem. If you are 6 miles from the center of Jerusalem, what town are you in? Jerusalem, exactly.
Go visit the Holy Land and see for yourself. Your argument is lame.
Mormons do not believe that Christ was created by God, they believe that He is (Christ) is eternal, has always existed. Although they also believe that all of us have always existed. They believe that God did create our Bodies and put us into them. They also believe that before we were spirits living with God that we were “intelligences” and that God created our spiritual bodies. These are things that cannot be rationally argued for or against because there is so little information in the scriptures to define these things. I don’t know why they matter but to many I guess they do.
Did Christ lie? Did Christ appear to Paul? If he did did He lie?
Either you misunderstand what the Mormons teach about “after all you can do” or purposely distort it. I think it is one of their most beautiful beliefs. they don’t believe anybody gets a free ticket to heaven just because they speak the name of Christ. They believe that if you have no works you don’t know Christ. The works don’t save you, far from it only the Grace of the Lord and Savior of the world can save you. Mormons know and preach that, I have heard it many times. They believe if you love The Lord you will follow Him. If you follow Him THEN His Grace will be sufficient for you. Conversely they believe that if you turn away you will be lost. That is why they always talk about enduring to the end.
Mormon Temple rituals are for all people. I know that sounds strange but, I’ll try to explain it as best as I can. Mormons believe that all men must be married to go to the highest heaven. They believe that unmarried people can go to heaven or what they call the “Celestial Glory” but that if you are married then you could potentially go to the top. In order to be church married you must be a priest, or a priesthood holder. Also to go to heaven you must be baptized. In the temples they baptize you, ordain you and marry you. It makes no difference if you are a member of the church or not, their goal is to do this for everyone who has lived on the earth. So, either you go ahead and get it done now or wait to have it done for you later. Here is the big deal, remember they really believe this, they also believe that if the work is not done for everybody then none of it is of any value. If every person that ever lived doesn’t have the opportunity then nobody does. What they do for dead people and what they do for themselves is no different. According to them we will all have the opportunity to go to the highest heaven or none of us will.
It might sound strange but it is nothing if not magnanimous.
"For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and in him there is no variableness, neither shadow of changing? And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles" (Mormon 9:9-10).
"Here, then, is eternal life--to know the only wise and true God. And you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves--to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done--by going from a small degree to another, from grace to grace, from exaltation to exaltation, until you are able to sit in glory as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power." - King Follett Discourse
Moroni and Mormon describe God as immutable and unchanging. The KFD shows something else. How can you believe that God is at the same time immutable and changing, that from all eternity he was as he now is, but he somehow evolved from a mere mortal?
If God evolved, Moroni and Mormon are wrong. If God didnt evolve, the KFD and Joseph Smith is wrong. Which is it?
Thanks, JAKraig — we believe in the very same Jesus.
It is odd how many people think Mormons are heading to the depths of hell because we put our faith in a ‘false’ Christ.
Mormons dont believe that Jesus is the one and only God, but instead one of many gods, who happened to be chosen by a council of gods to reign over Earth. . . .
___________________________________________________________
Actually that is not what Mormons believe. You are partly right. They do not believe that Christ is God The Father. They do believe that Christ is the Jehovah of the Old Testament. They do believe that Christ created this earth under the direction of God The Father, and created everything on this earth. They also believe that God, Christ and The Holy Ghost are all Gods. They believe that they are three individuals, not unlike the majority of 1st century Christians. The doctrine of the Trinity was not codified until Constantine. There were many arguments before Constantine settled the argument once and for all. The council you speak of is God The Father, Christ and The Holy Ghost. It is interesting in Genesis 1:26 God said “Let US make man in Our image”. Kind of sounds like a council at work doesn’t it.
They may not be right, who knows, but there is nothing insane about their belief on this matter. This argument has been argued for two thousand years, not just by Mornoms either. There is plenty of proof on both sides of the argument. I’m not sure how much it matters except for Mornmons anyway. Like Stephen, Joseph Smith said he saw Jesus Christ standing at the right hand of God.
Not as odd as the mormon belief that if every single soul living OR dead is NOT converted to mormonism, it is bound for Hell....or that mormonism is "The only True and Living Church"...or that drinking coffee and/or tea will keep you out of the temple, and thus no Salvation soup for you...oddities abound along with heresies in mormonism.
Your list in incomplete JAK. In addition (and mormons love to add to things)
Mormon Jesus is ontologically the spirit brother of satan
Mormon Jesus is a spirit child of heavenly father- a being that progressed to become a 'god' among a plethura of other 'gods' Mormon Jesus' sacrifice was insufficient to cover all my sins.
Mormon Jesus is a lesser god of the pantheon of gods - still progressing to ever higher godhood
Mormon Jesus is part of a three god committee mormons call the godhead, composed of himself, heavenly father and another spirit child turned god called "Holy Ghost" who some how attained godhood without the mandantory time as a human and has no name.
The atonement of the mormon Jesus only allows for a bodily resurrection. There is no 'hell' in mormonism to be saved from, just different levels of 'heaven'
The grace of mormon Jesus is dependent upon works of perfection and doing all possible to become sinless on their own power.
No JAK, this mormon Jesus is not the same Jesus you presented, but the mormon PR version. It is a cardboard cut out of the real Jesus.
Mormons believe that Jesus is one of many gods and that Lucifer is his spirit brother. Christians believe that Jesus is the one, true God. Do you not see the difference???
Mormons believe that Jesus was not always a god. They believe that he had to earn his godhood. Christians believe that Jesus is, was, and will always be God. There was never a time when Jesus wasn’t God. Do you you not see the difference??
Really? It doesn't trouble you that your church tells you that your own wife's religion is not a Christian religion,?
Started asking questions and discovered Tricia Erickson. The first two chapters of her book are available at Amazon to read. My pastor downloaded it to his Kindle and many have ordered multiple copies.
If the book is read now , Romney will never get the nomination. If we wait and let Axelrod distribute it, Obama will beat Romney hands down.
OH, the books title is: CAN MITT ROMNEY SERVE TWO MASTERS?
Tricia credentials are impeccably. Her relatives are still Mormon. Her father, like Mitt served as Bishop. She is now a Christian, has been on many local radio stations. Her book WILL be a best seller, either now or after Romney gets the nomination.
Well, lets see what Brigham Young had so say about the subject, because after all, he is a mormon prophet... And notice how he uses the word, "Gods".
Brigham Young - For some the only way to be saved and exalted with the Gods is to have their own blood shed. "Will you love your brothers or sisters likewise, when they have committed a sin that cannot be atoned for without the shedding of blood? Will you love that man or woman well enough to shed their blood?" Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, p. 219 (1857)
Would you kill your loved ones to save them from their sins? I thought Jesus was the only one to save you from your sins.
Brigham Young - If you find your brother in bed with your wife, and you put a javelin through them both, you would be justified and they would atoned for their sins and be received into the kingdom of God. ... "There is not a man or woman, who violates the covenants made with their God, that will not be required to pay the debt. The blood of Christ will never wipe that out,..... your own blood must atone for it;" Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, p. 247 (1856)
Then why worship Jesus as your savior if you don't think he can save you from your sins?
John 14:6- Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This is what the Mormon leaders of the church have said. How can mormons say they love Jesus when they deny his authority?
Brigham Young - "If you want to know what to do with a thief that you may find stealing, I say kill him on the spot, and never suffer him to commit another iniquity." Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 108 (1853)
How does this even come close to what Jesus taught?
You sir know not of what you speak.
Have you met my wife?
Do you not know that you should "judge not that ye not be judged?"
You have not met my wife yet you judge her as if you were some kind of judge. You you insult her without the slightest bit of knowledge about her, you sir are a pig and cannot be a Christian.

“Actually that is not what Mormons believe.”
You never demonstrated my statements contained errors about Mormons beliefs. You merely added defenses of their beliefs. What did I state that is not what mormons believe?
You also didn’t address the major concern about mormon Christology - that Jesus was not always a god. The Christian definition of divine includes infinity, meaning, having no beginning or end. The mormon view on Jesus doesn’t meet that definition because they believe that Jesus wasn’t always a god, so his divinity had to start at some point in time.
Another major concern view the mormon view on God is that humans can become equal with Him by becoming divine themselves. That view also distorts the omniscience and omnipotence of Almighty God.
You don’t care what one thinks about God, but God makes it clear that He won’t share His glory with anyone. Why would He accept anyone that thought they could become equal with Him?
Mormons tried to posthumously baptize Nobel laureate and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel but were disappointed to find that he wasn’t dead yet http://www.huffingtonpost.com
