Actress Kristin Chenoweth is a self-identifying Christian who has sparked controversy by speaking out about her support of the gay community in an interview with lesbian and gay publication The Advocate.
The LBGT publication asked the TV and theater star: "What would you ask people who cite Christianity as their justification for passing laws that discriminate against people?"
Chenoweth replied, "I would ask, 'What would Jesus do?' It sounds so cliché and Pollyanna-ish, but I have a feeling if he were on the earth today, he wouldn't be walking around saying, 'You’re going to hell' and 'You're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong.' I think he'd be accepting and loving."
Chenoweth is best known for her theater and television roles such as Glinda in "Wicked" and April Rhodes on "Glee." The actress is also releasing her fourth studio album Some Lessons Learned on Sept. 13.
Chenoweth is not new to controversy over her conflicting beliefs. In 2005, she was fired from a "Woman in Faith" concert for her support of gay rights.
Analysts for Focus on the Family refer to pro-gay Christians as a part of a larger movement called "Pro-Gay Revisionist Theology." Leaders of this movement claim Christians' prejudice against homosexuals leads them to misread biblical texts about homosexuality.
Christian Research Institute's Joseph P. Gudel says, "I realize that it is not 'politically correct' to speak critically concerning any person or group. Nonetheless, true Christian love does not ignore immorality and the lives ruined by it, but speaks out in the hope of helping those individuals."
Contradictions are not Chenoweth's concern, however. "I don't judge you for your opinions, so please don't judge me for mine," the actress said in response to critics.
"I read my Bible and I pray and all of that – I really do," Chenoweth told The Advocate. "But at the same time, I don't think being gay is a sin. Period."

She’s a star on Glee. Well that pretty much makes her an expert on just about everything. She probably has an inside on the scriptures and which ones God really meant and which ones he really didn’t mean and was just funnin’ around.

I think a big consequence of homosexual marriage (along with polyamory) is shacking up by heterosexuals.
Kids look at homosexual marriage being celebrated and think, OK, nobody really cares about old-fashioned marriage anymore. All boundaries are gone. So what if we live together. Getting marriage is such a hassle!

Here in this question we have a perfect example of the lie that is portrayed by every person who supports creating special rights based upon a person’s corrupt sexual behavior.
A law that criminalizes homosexual behavior is not discriminating against any person. It is disriminating against a type of behavior.
The insane lie that the left-wing is trying to forcefully mandate as a truth is the claim that homosexuality is akin to race or gender in that it is innate.
Homosexuality is a corruption of natural human sexuality. The only way it can become manifest in society is through a choice. There are many corrupt behaviors that people choose and if promoted they will and do spread further corruption, especially when children are the targets of such corruption.
This is true whether someone considers themselves Christian or not. These facts do not need religion to remain facts. Homosexuality is a corruption of natural human sexuality.
If you approve of homosexuality, you are not a Christian and you have no right to ascribe that view to Christianity.
On the other hand, you can disapprove of homosexuality all you want but you have no right to do anything about it if someone else is into it except preach and pray for them.
The only thing as bad as being rule by evil men is being ruled by people calling themselves Christians who are trying to bring the kingdom of heaven down to earth and letting no one stand in their misguided way.

Those with homosexual leanings that believe on Jesus are God’s children, and heirs to His great promise just as much as are heterosexuals. But that does NOT mean that homosexual BEHAVIOR is “OK”, or to be condoned (let alone glorified).

The founder of Free Republic issued this statement in 2004:

As I evaluate what Jim has written, all forms of homosexualism are opposed on this Conservative forum. I would surmise that any defense of sodomy is counter to the aims of Free Republic. I think it's notable that eating too much isn't among the items enumerated by the founder of this site as something FR opposes.
Therefore, I don't think that comparing the wickedness of sodomites to those who are a tad flabby is apt.
If I have misunderstood the statement in any way, I'll be more than glad to be corrected. But I firmly believe that homosexuality in any form must be soundly and unambiguously refuted.
There is no right in persons or government to mandate Christian behavior.
Doing so is itself unchristian.
There is no compulsion to endorse unchristian behavior either.

We have every right to legislate in regards to behavior that a majority feels is dangerous to society. Especially when it comes to how that behavior is dealt with in the public realm.
Homosexuality spreads disease. It is a corruption and when promoted can and will spread. Especially when promoted to children.
We do not just have to preach or pray. We can and should be legislating against it.
You seem to have something against Christianity. I never said that we should mandate Christian behavior, in fact I said that homosexuality is a corruption and is dangerous regardless if a person is Christian or not.
Actually, he'd have no problem telling the homosexual he or she is wrong, as he did with the woman caught in adultery (John 8). Jesus did not condemn in that passage, but, being holy, Jesus abhorred sin. As with the woman caught in adultery, Jesus would suggest to Chenoweth and anyone else that the homosexual must repent of that sin in order to enter the Kingdom of God. So yes, he'd say "you're wrong". Being God, Jesus could do no less.
There is the little of problem of their being multiple places in the bible where homosexuality is called a grave sin.
And then there is the end of Romans chapter one where the bible condemns those that simply approve of it.

Actually, we know what Our Lord would say to the sexually immoral, because we have a record of it: “Go and sin no more.”
(Yeah, I know that was adultery, but the principle applies to the more exotic carnal sins as well.)
