"The Wanderer" of December 18 informs that the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith has endorsed a document authored by the Lancaster Bishop in England, Patrick O'Donohue calling for an authentic restoration of orthodox Catholicism to the institutions of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. It demands a rejection of the misinterpretations of the Second Vatican Council.
It is not without coincidence that a decline in our culture paralleled the abuses masquerading as reforms of the Second Vatican Council both in the US and Europe. There is no question that if this call for restoration gathers momentum we can see a reflection of this in Catholic voting trends around the world.
Bobby Jindal is a traditionalist Catholic and should he be the GOP Presidential Candidate in 2012, this development will surely provide him with a boost.
There is a hunger.
Interesting. Very interesting.

Many of us traditionalist Catholics have called for the rejection of the misinterpretations of Vatican II. No more guitar Masses, Wiccan nuns and liberation theology. The Orthodox have kept Orthodoxy over the last millennium (coincidentally since the Schism) whilst the West definitely has wandered. The Faith is well documented and well kept; it is only for us to reject the Protestantization of our beliefs.
Agreed. Well said. Here in Los Angeles, we need to get rid of our Cardinal who spent $125 million in building a cathedral that looks like a warehouse and forked out hundreds of millions of dollars in cover-up of priestly pedophilia and changed sacred music and ritual. This damage will takes years to repair.
It’s one thing to overturn the misinterpretations of Vatican 2 and another thing entirely to return to pre-Vatican 2 Mass. I for one like to hear the Word of God spoken in my own language and not Latin. Sacred Catholic music of English or Latin or any other language is most welcome.

You would still hear the Word of God proclaimed in your own language. In my experience, it is standard practice for the priest to re-read the text on which he plans to preach (including usually the gospel) in the local language — in my case, English. Also, he of course preaches in English as well.
Of course. The use of Latin preserves the liturgical integrity of the mass. I have no problem following the mass in Latin, missal in hand.
Excellent news. I just returned from Mass and would love to see tradition and solemnity restored.
It can be a little tough when the entire mass is said very softly, but if we were all doing it every week, we’d get used to it.
I used to think along the lines of the FReeper I replied to, but have since changed my mind. I think the wisest course for the Latin Church is the restoration of the Traditional Latin Mass, and the gradual abrogation of the 1970 Mass.
Welcome to FR,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a couple months late, but welcome anyway.
I'm convinced that the adjustment could be made and should be made Church-wide, for the salvation of the world.
