Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
It sure would be nice to know what post or posts prompted your comment.
Also, what purpose is served by killing the thread? Why not just deal with posters on an individual basis if they step over the line?
Yes, He could have compelled Saul. He certainly compelled Jonah. And He compelled Balaam the false prophet to bless Israel when he didn't want to.
The Bible (even the Old Testament) is often unclear why God does something. Take for example Job. God never explains to Job why He allowed Job to go through all those problems. This is part of God's sovereignty and He will not compromise it or explain it.
Personally I believe God lays down the rules and when we follow those rules we are blessed. When we do not follow those rules we have problems. Esther brought blessings on herself and the Jews just for speaking up at the right time. Jonah just sat in a stinking fish while he consider whether to speak up or not. One got a blessing for obedience. The other got body odor.
God, by definition, is not incapable of anything. Did He empowered man with a free will is the real question?
No is the answer. :O)
As a matter of fact, each one of you came extremely close to finding your accounts permanently banned when I saw the latest shenanigans, due to the fact that it showed that your intention is to find ways around whatever rules are in place and your goal is to continue to be insulting and your goal is to continue to try to create the very atmosphere in the religion forum we are trying to get rid of.
So consider this a final warning. Those of you who find it impossible or undesirable to participate on Free Republic in a manner compatible with the tone and tenor that we have been trying to get you to adhere to, leave or be thrown out. If you keep trying to find ways around it, you will be thrown out.
Mat 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
Mat 28:6
The sacrifice has been accepted
You have a scripture on that do you not?
No one is in heaven because they deserve to be there..that is the fallacy of your position.
If infants are saved it is because God has mercy on them , not because they are "not accountable" . The bible is full of the judgment of God on the sin of infants .
Happy Easter
Hey guy ...
Sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing.
You and your family will be in my prayers.
God Bless
So yall shop together. I hate to go with my husband. We walk in and he hands me his watch and wants to know how long I need and where to meet him. Anything over 45 minutes pains him. It used to be 30 minutes but I was always late:') Then it's very stressful for him at the check out. It's much healthier for him if he doesn't know what I buy or how much I spend.:') EX: "I thought we were on a diet" "don't we already have some of this at home?" "I don't know why you buy all this food. You know you aren't going to cook" "How much have you put on AE this month? You will be crying like a baby when you have to give me your check to pay YOUR bill next month" and my favorite "didn't you just buy groceries last week"? :')
I'm much worse at home depot though. Ex: "More tools? You have some you haven't even opened yet" "If you would let me organize your garage you wouldn't have to keep buying things" "Are you about ready to go?" "This place is so boring" :')
Well, I need to go grocery shopping with my wife or else she'll come home all grouchy from having to do it herself (and frankly, I don't blame her).
And, if I let her get away from me in one of the big stores, ... I might not see her again for half an hour or so. It's definitely to my advantage to help her get the items she wants.
She can have a hard time making decisions (between brand names ... for example) too, ... so, a lot of the time, I can shortcut that process.
As for the hardware store (Lowes is my favorite), she can only tolerate so much before she's at her wits end.
For her ... its just the amount of time I spend there ... but, I gues that it makes up for the grocery store.
Sorry, I drift on and off. We have lots of company this Easter and I don't get on line too much.
Hey ... enjoy your holiday. I'm not in any rush for an answer.
I'm not sure I follow your question about Jesus and Satan. Just as Eve (and Adam) where tempted in the garden by Satan so was Christ tempted.
I guess I just wondering what this seeming struggle between the Creator Christ and the creature Satan all means in the cosmic drama that Calvinists believe in ?
Was it God's determinate will that Satan attempt to derail Christ from His course ?
Yes. I even talked to the Rabbi. Gonna make an appt with him next week.
