Both juveniles...

Louisiana’s major electric utilities are still pushing state regulators to allow them to charge customers for the costs of a new statewide energy efficiency program and for the electricity customers will no longer need because of that program. The LPSC’s new energy efficiency program will require certain statewide energy savings targets. Hitting those targets could require the administrator to implement things like appliance upgrades for...

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) on Monday said Americans view Vice President Harris as “a bit of a ding-dong,” a comment that was met with some pushback from Fox News host Neil Cavuto. Kennedy fired off a series of attacks against Harris on Fox News’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” repeatedly claiming polls show that Americans view Harris as “a bit of a ding-dong.” Cavuto continued to push back on Kennedy’s comments, questioning how beneficial it was for the senator and other Republicans to call the vice president names. “Margaret Thatcher didn’t giggle, Golda Meir didn’t giggle. When you look at...

After being asked to leave Stab's Tuesday for a confusing dress code violation at Stab's Prime Steak and Seafood and posting about it on Facebook, Y'Mine McClanahan's post has taken a new turn. Late Wednesday evening, she posted a statement on her personal Facebook page from the NAACP Baton Rouge Branch addressing her experience at Stab's Prime Steak and Seafood where she was asked to leave because of her attire which, many argue, was less "revealing" than the restaurant's wait staff's attire. McClanahan is the vice president of the Baton Rouge Branch of NAACP.

President Joe Biden's reelection campaign officially ended on Sunday, July 21 when he announced that he was dropping out of the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Harris has since picked up a lot of endorsements from fellow Democrats —including one from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) — and reportedly, Biden's announcement was followed by a cash haul of over $75 million in less than 24 hours. But some Republicans are accusing Democrats of not playing fair, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). On X, formerly Twitter, Johnson posted, "At this unprecedented juncture in American history,...

The ruling requires the administration to keep processing new applications to export LNG as the Texas-led lawsuit proceeds. Attorney General Ken Paxton obtained a temporary injunction in his lawsuit against the Biden administration over their decision to halt liquefied natural gas exports. Joined by 15 other state attorneys general, Paxton secured the win Monday after a federal district court judge in Western Louisiana ruled that the new administrative plan should be paused as the case proceeds. “This ruling means [President Joe] Biden’s illegal ban does not prevent Texas natural gas from reaching market while the lawsuit continues,” stated Paxton in...

Since the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned Roe v. Wade, states have been allowed to pass their own abortion laws. As certain states began to pass stronger protections for preborn human beings, other states began to eliminate protections — and ‘abortion travel’ became a hot-button issue. Some companies began funding abortion travel as a “benefit” to employees, and abortion funds began to pay for airfare, hotels, and the like in order to assist women living in pro-life states to obtain abortions in states where abortion was more available. Since that time, the Guttmacher Institute...

The state of Louisiana has ignited a hot new controversy on the role of religion in American public life by passing a law requiring a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” in every classroom and in every K-12 public school and college classroom in the state. Other states such as Texas, Oklahoma, and Utah are considering similar legislation. Predictably, Americans for Separation of Church and State and the ACLU have declared this act as a violation of the constitutional mandate that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free...

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday endorsed displaying the Ten Commandments in all schools, days after a controversial new law went into effect in Louisiana mandating classroom postings. “Has anyone read the ‘Thou shalt not steal’?” the presumptive GOP presidential nominee told more than 1,000 predominantly evangelical Christians at a Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Washington DC. “I mean, has anybody read this incredible stuff? It’s just incredible. They don’t want it to go up. It’s a crazy world,” added Trump, who drew huge applause. A new law signed in Louisiana on Thursday requires the Ten Commandments to be...

A Louisiana federal court has ruled in favor of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), stopping an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) pro-abortion mandate from taking place in Mississippi and Louisiana. The USCCB praised the ruling. “We have said from the start that abortion has no place in the pro-life, pro-woman Pregnant Workers Fairness Act,” spokeswoman Chieko Noguchi said in a statement, adding, “We’re grateful the court has agreed and look forward to full and permanent respect for our rights and this law’s noble purpose.” The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) became law in June of 2023, with...

Louisiana is the first state to require the display of the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom after Republican Gov. Jeff Landry signed a bill into law Wednesday. Under the legislation, H.B. 71, a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in "large, easily readable font" is required in all public classrooms, from kindergartens to state-funded universities. Over the weekend, Landry touted the bill at a fundraiser in Tennessee.
