The election handicapper Cook Political Report shifted its ratings for Arizona, Georgia and Nevada toward Vice President Harris as she continues to close the polling gap with former President Trump.
All three states had been considered “lean Republican” in early July, while President Biden was still in the race and falling further behind Trump both on the national level and in the key battleground states. But with polls showing Harris getting back within the margin of error of Trump, or in some cases slightly ahead, the three swing states have been moved to be a “Toss Up.”
“For the first time in a long time, Democrats are united and energized, while Republicans are on their heels. Unforced errors from both Trump and his vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance have shifted the media spotlight from Biden’s age to Trump’s liabilities,” said Cook Editor-in-Chief Amy Walter in a post explaining the decision.
“In other words, the presidential contest has moved from one that was Trump’s to lose to a much more competitive contest,” she continued.

You can also consider that her VP selection seems to be turning out to be a disappointment.
“I am calling BS but this should be a 1984 style landslide for Trump. Election does not start until after labor day”
You’re looking at this as a rational person. It may be that the public is not as rational as you are. Additionally, don’t underestimate the power that women feel voting for someone with the same plumbing.
People voted for Joe Biden as a moderate. They are not voting for two socialists.
Who is Cook and how reliable are they? NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE STUPIDITY OF TODAY’S AMERICAN VOTER.
PA is the battleground - can’t see anyone winning without it. There’s a good video of CNN or MSNBC showing how places like Hazelton, PA that went from 5% Hispanic in 2000 to over 60% Hispanic in 2020 also moved SOLIDLY toward Trump in 2020. Maybe someone can find it..
All due respect to the ladies, but that’s why the Founders intentionally did not give women the right to vote. Emotion has no place in choosing a Commander-in-Chief, but most women are pacifists who do not consider the fact of war and aggression.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the Biden/Harris voter. Here are a few quotes from one I know:
“The First Amendment to what? I’ve never heard of that.”
“What laptop?”
“But transwomen are women.”
“What are you saying, people in ancient times were just as smart as us? No way.”
“You shouldn’t have guns because if you try to defend yourself they’ll just take it away from you.”
“We should use nuclear bombs on Russians because they’re bad people.”
“Emotion has no place in choosing a Commander-in-Chief, but most women are pacifists who do not consider the fact of war and aggression.”
And will be the death of us all. After women have screwed up the country beyond salvation, they will turn to men looking for them to repair the damage... a macro version of what goes on in the brownsfan household.
Amy Walter, who provides the analysis, is a political commentator on PBS.
It would be helpful that when posting crap like this, some context be provided. Unless the intent is to stir up those even dumber.
“You’re looking at this as a rational person. It may be that the public is not as rational as you are.”

Good point. Rationality is in short supply these days. And the sheeple are many.
Cook political report is a well respected outfit. When they moved these 3 states towards Trump this spring, everyone here cheered. Now suddenly we don’t like them. So predictable and so reminiscent of 2012.
Amy Walter is pretty extreme left wing.
This cook report is showing convention bounce, it will revert starting labor day.
The media are also fawning over these two losers - hiding their records, giving them pass after pass, making them seem normal and likeable - while (as usual) demonizing everything Trump and Vance say and do.
She has not improved her choices in life at all.
Vote fraud is strong in those corrupt states.
Nobody did anything about the election corruption in Arizona, so we may very well see it pretend to elect Harris.
I read the other day that the State Legislature of Georgia has enacted quite a few laws that might put a dent in their vote fraud problem, so Georgia is very likely going for Trump.
Though I wouldn't doubt the corrupt parts of the Georgia election system will still try to throw the election to Harris.
Nevada might surprise. The service workers unions there are very interested in Trump's "No taxes on Tips" plan.
If the corruption can be kept under control, Trump could win Nevada.
Why is this worthy of a thread but CNBC’s major poll this morning has not appeared?
