Rehab really doesn't work. He's screwed. Once a junkie, almost always a junkie.

I am not real familiar with addicting drugs and rehab, what are the rates of recovery?

Rehab really doesn't work. He's screwed. Once a junkie, almost always a junkie. BS. I was a junkie. Jesus Christ delivered me from drugs in 1985. Been clean every day since.

Rehab works. If the addict wants to recover. It's all up to the addict. If Limbaugh wants to do this, he'll do it.

Probably destroyed his back with the previous weight.
Has to take meds for pain or learn to live with it.
He is screwed from a pain management point of view for sure.
All he can do is dry out and only be allowed so many pills a week under prescription. Being he has access anytime to pills with his wealth, this could be very tough.

You hate-filled little minded twerp! A man shares the truth with his audience and you tak eit as your slathering opportunity to slime him. Your vacant understanding of the true nature of prescription drug addiction and the ultimate outcome of breaking that addiction is glaring. STFU and go join your Rushbashing butties somewhere else. You're an insult to FR!

I know several people who went though detox and have been clean for many many years now, it all depends on the person and if they really wants to be clean.

Sorry Monty, but that's simply not true. It has worked for 10's of thousands. It especially works well for those who recognize the problem and who have made the decision to change for good for life!

OOOPS. You let your hate show through.
What you say is simply not true. Prescription drug dependence is difficult to snap but any STRONG personality can do it with relative ease. And we all know Rush has a strong personality.
He will re-direct his needs in other directions.
I know, it worked for me.

Once a junkie, almost always a junkie. What great support you've got for Rush.
OTOH, this is going to be rough for all of us; the DUmmies and other assorted libs are going to have a field day.

My pastor went through detox 3 times and was given up for dead by his doctors. That was 10 years ago, he is totally clean. So with the right attitude, help, and God's grace, you can find healing.
I hope and pray Rush looks back at this many years from now and says it was one of the best things that ever happened to him, because it forced him to truly face a problem that would eventually have killed him.
And I am going to miss him while he is gone, because despite his problems, there is only one Rush.

I've been a member of AlAnon for 20 years and have known many people who were able to overcome addictions to alcohol, heroin, opiates and any combination thereof.
It works if you work it!

You can't BE a junkie if you can't get the drugs, and I doubt very highly he'll have access to such drugs in the future. What do I know, but more power to him. It can happen to the best of us, and Rush is proof of this.

"He's screwed. Once a junkie, almost always a junkie."And once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. It doesn't mean he's screwed. It means he has to learn how to deal with the addiction. Along with the pain.
