I'm becoming more convinced that the average FReeper lives in a dream world. Who in their right mind believes that AS is going to debate McC on his own turf? That is, why would AS even stoop to the level of debating a David Stockman type who clearly has the advantage over specific budgetary information?
Jeez, doesn't anybody here understand politics? AS is going to be playing to the TV audience. He is, after all, an actor (even if he is a poor one at that). His key is leadership and inspiration - the debate will just be a showcase to see (1) where he wants to take the state; and (2) whether a majority of voters wants to go there with him.
If McC doesn't watch it, he may get so frustrated that he might have his own Caine Mutiny moment (Captain Queeg ).
But there's an enormous difference when it comes to cruz's already proposed $8 BILLION tax increase AND Arnold's very real ability to defeat bustamante compared to Tom's slim & none.
I have been hearing the same manure from the moderate/LOSER wing of the GOP for 40 years. You were wrong about Reagan and you'll be wrong about McClintock. SHOVE OFF...and prepare to watch your boy slapped, kicked and hog-tied on Wednesday by McClintock.
I was wrong about Reagan? lol! I worked on the man's campaign in the Orange County headquarters. Feel like an idiot? You should.
"Dear Mr. Reagan, it should be obvious to you now that you can never be elected governor. Please put aside your ego, for the good of our party, and get behind the one man who is moderate enough to appeal to California voters - - San Francisco Mayor George Christopher." Look Magazine 1966 LOSERS THEN, LOSERS NOW.
Only a fool would compare 1966 California to California of today. Good show! lol!
Are you seriously saying that FR/Jim Rob rigged the FR polls?
Are you seriously saying that most Freepers support Ahnold even though all FR polls show the opposite?
Are you that much in denial of the fact that most Freepers do NOT support Ahnold?
Maybe for conservative FReepers, but would you really want to be in McC's shoes with AS as governor? Poor Tom's only going to have 13 more months of employment before he has to go out in the private sector for the first time in his life.
Amen. And repealing the 16th and 17th amendments would go far toward dismantling the federal beast and restoring Constitutionally limited government. And couple that with abolishing all the socialist hogwash that has been enacted via stretching the "General Welfare" and "Commerce" clauses waaay beyond any semblance of original intent.
Start him off with a Party county central committee seat. As an alternate.
Read the previous posts and perhaps you will get up to speed.
I'm not looking for anything. If you've got something to say, say it.
Most of the hard core, rightwing ideologues have left FreeRepublic for greener pastures, either by their own choosing or by banishment decision of JimRob's. So don't give me your rhetoric about conservative purists on FreeRepublic. It's fact ofd life, there are impractical idealists everywhere, even in the land of oz, California!
For this conservative Republican and many others around here, we don't believe Arnold holds conservative viewponts and doesn't advance the conservative agenda or the GOP party platform either. If you evaluate Arnold's opinions and analyze his values and beliefs, you'd see the facts. Arnold is left of center and a social liberal. Just because he has an R next to his name, shouldn't compell Republicans to vote for him. Issues are always relevent and principles are critically important. They shouldn't be set aside to elect a liberal. The level of infatuation for Arnold's candidacy has been obscene.
The facts simply aren't on your side.
Granted, McClintock is the long shot, but he's also the only conservative Republican running in the recall election campaign.
Brother, you evidently don't work in the real world. In the real world, people look for revenge. With AS as governor, do you think GWB will make a couple of trips out West to try and lock up Calif's 54 electoral votes? Do you think ANYBODY at any level with the GOP will ever have anything to do with McC again after what he almost did to this election? Christ, to have both AS and Rove pissed means he might not even get a good job in the private sector.
The concept of growing the conservative movement is not tied intrinsicly to elections. The grass roots education and growth of among the population does not rely upon the 'nomination' or support by the party of any particular individual in any given electoral race. However, growth is not, IMLTHO, forwarded by the party supporting candidates who simply cannot win. This is CA. An (R) needs more than just party line conservative support. A.S. 'throwing' his support to McC will not cause the (D)s and (I)s supporting A.S. to move to the McC camp. However, the converse is true, most McC supporters would vote for A.S. over C.B. and that almost ensures an A.S. victory. This is the reality we face. There is no viable classic conservative and the day of choice is coming soon.
Maybe you all can just write in Pat Buchanen ... his chances are almost as good ....
You're welcome.
Now, have you apologized to thoughtomater for your kind (albeit inaccurate) words to him?
Say McC is Governor, and decides to go to San Diego to hold a conference with local businesses and find out their businesses have been hurt because of say...Workmen's Comp.
Who in the media will cover it? Will it get National exposure?
Now, what if ARNOLD did the same thing?
Answer:
McC = no coverage = legislature still doing what it's doing now, and blaming the whole mess on McC's doings.
ARNOLD = Statewide media coverage, National media coverage, and legislature HAVING to do something or risk being exposed on television as not responding to a problem the media brought to CA and the Nation's attention.
GET IT???
