Where were you
when the sky rained down
liquid fire and lost souls;
when the air billowed poison,
when sirens wailed
and cries echoed urgently and painfully?
Never forget....

Where were you
when, with a thunderous roar,
monsters of steel and glass
crumbled to the earth
belching black gaseous clouds
as thick and as dark as satan's cloak?
Never forget....

Where were you
when eerie silence fell like
winter's first snowfall;
when voices and spirits were
stilled forever in
unadorned and involuntary graves?
Never forget....

Where were you
when satan's children laughed
and danced in streets of candy
while families mourned
eternal emptiness, longing for
just one last chance to say, "I love you?"

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.

Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Oh, Dansy, this just gives me goosebumps. Your verse, the layout, the graphics you chose take my breath away. What a beautiful post you've given us.

I was watching the morning news when they broke in with the first plane hitting the Trade Center. At that time, it appeared some tragic accident....then in utter disbelief, the second one hit and they knew.....this was no accident. I sat there crying as they continued to show the horrible scenes and then another plane and another. It was unreal. This couldn't happen in the United States, and it did.

I don't have much of a connection with the 9/11 attacks except common humanity. I knew no one who died and only learned about Olsen and Moran and their FR connection after the fact. I had however visited the WTC on July 4th 1979 and I saved my ticket stub from that day.

I find today's Gospel very insightful and comforting:

Gospel
Lk 6:27-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
"To you who hear I say, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.
To the person who strikes you on one cheek,
offer the other one as well,
and from the person who takes your cloak,
do not withhold even your tunic.
Give to everyone who asks of you,
and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.
Do to others as you would have them do to you.
For if you love those who love you,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners love those who love them.
And if you do good to those who do good to you,
what credit is that to you?
