Hannity station went dead for about 20 seconds. Said he had never seen anything like it.

Fox talking about terrorism possibilities. Talking about the guy caught today, (Haduchi--sp?), the recent sting on the missile sales that they (terrorists) watch us closely.
Speculation.

This morning my five-year-old son told me he had drawn "something very important to America" and produced a very clear drawing of the Statue of Liberty A fine young man you have there

9-11 showed Americans are the most civilized of any people. You look at how Europeans are over a soccer game, but Americans look out for each other and react like responsible people.9-11 was shock, plain and simple, and you can't hold that out as an example of all Americans. I think given the right opportunities, some Americans would lose any and all civility (not the best way to say it) they have. I'm not talking sports riots after this or that team wins an NFL or NBA championship. You've seen the Americans I'm talking about - the ones who take advantage of situations (race riots back in the 60s, the Rodney King crap, etc.). The ones that are so upset over something they help themselves to other people's property, etc. The ones who were looting around the WTC.
Like I said, I'm glad I'm in an area where I can put a lot of distance between myself and my neighbors, and times like these make me glad that my wife is a dang good shot.
I know most Americans are good people, but I also know that many aren't.

Communter trains seem to be running though. Even while power was out...train is a few blocks away. It passes us on the way to New Brunswick Station.

Why the heck are there not a constant stream of buses running out of the PATH terminal? Emergency bus operations in a situation like this are severely constrained not only by the number of buses in their fleet, but by the number of bus drivers that can make it to the bus garage in a given time. If New Jersey Transit operates 1,200 buses system-wide during the evening peak hour, they aren't likely to have another 800 lying around to use in a case like this. And even if they did, they don't have 800 bus drivers on the payroll waiting for incidents like this to occur.

MSNBC keeps hinting restoration of power is less than an hour away. I wish they'd restore their internet link to WNBC. Anyone else on WNBC on the internet? -- it seems to have crashed for me.

I agree.. We're one big attack from total anarchy.
This kind of power stuff is just enough to tip off serious panic.

Thanks for the Post post. I hope everyone reads it.
IMHO, right now, we just don't know what caused the blackout. Just because foul play isn't obvious doesn't mean there isn't foul play!
To: Dolphy
I meant that in the generic way, rahter than the more cumbersome "he or she" ;0)
Now, that being said, Watts up?

We've had the power back in SW CT for an hour and a half. What a nice evening, too. Steaks on the grill and then everyone up and down our road moved their lawn chairs out to the front yards, lit candles and watched the younguns chase after lightening bugs. A stroll around the block elicited waves and howdies. An excuse to eat all the ice cream in the freezer! We had a great blackout!

Well, I have to cash it in for the night. Dr. gave me eye ointment to use at bedtime. So prolly ought to go to bed. Darn.
Will reconnoiter with this thread in the AM to see who pulled an all-nighter. Carry on Brave Freepers!
Prayers for those without electricity tonight. Here and elsewhere in the world.

If they use Verizon for Net access, they have a large outage from the power loss.

I am laughing so hard at the thought of people just recently joining this thread and seeing references to the Three Stooges. What must they think?
