They need to get a generator to that mine, pronto. My husband was an underground mining engineer for many years. Ventilation in deep mines depends on fans...otherwise the air doesn't circulate and gets replaced with CO2. People can faint or suffocate.
Most mines run electric trams or small electric trains to the face (where they are mining). In a large mine that can be some distance...several miles.
They will have light as long as their lamps in their helmets holds out...but they do need to get a generator there right away.
I assume this is in Ontario.

I truly hate her....I'm not fond of her either - she's probably a step below Michael White if that's possible (but 2 steps above Kucinich).
She doesn't seem "mayoral" at all - I'm glad I moved before I had to watch her get elected. :)
I am concerned about the water situation - Cleveland Public Power took over most of the punping stations about the same time that they expanded the east side electric system. They also raised water rates around that time frame. Essentially, most of Cleveland's suburban water ratepayers are subsidizing cheap power in the city of Cleveland - the math is there for the taking. And, apparently, they got rid of some back-up generators in that time frame as well. DUH.

Two questions for you:
Danys Baez: will/should he be around next year?
Will: yes. Should: I don't know
With the Devil Rays coming to town, do you think FirstEnergy could harness the steam coming from Lou Pinella's ears to help light the city?
They certianly should!!!!

I don't think a 4,000-foot hardrock mine is all that unusual. I seem to remember reading about diamond mines in South Africa that extend two miles below the surface of the earth. That's about 10,500 feet.

empty-headed but pretty Paula
I used to think she was empty-headed but pretty... that is why I was so shocked to see her IRL, so to speak. She looks like just any average-looking, frumpy, no-time-for-a-hairbrush suburb mom dropping her kid off 7 a.m. at the bus-stop! Just missing the bunny slippers LOL

That makes total sense now... The climb out would be 4000ft, not that they are straight down 4000ft.

Yeah, it's been interesting huh? I'm sure your Niece is fine.

Right now, I believe Dubya is telling the truth. Gee, glad to see such deep faith in your President.

I was shadowing in the newsroom (and got to go follow a reporter around...what a blast) because I have been wondering if I should go into journalism instead of teaching history. Well, I expected my experience to make me see this as being so stressful that I should stick with teaching. Well..that didn't happen. I am seriously considering applying for an internship next year. Man oh man, it was fun. Yeah, it would be a stressful job with very sucky pay, but never boring. Today definitely wasn't boring...lol.

I'm not fond of her either - she's probably a step below Michael White if that's possible (but 2 steps above Kucinich). A Democrat friend asked me who I would vote for if I lived in the city...I said "why can't Mike White (the bum) run again... I miss him... In comparison.
