Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

"Spunky, your graphic is truly beautiful! Do you mind if I borrow it?"

Misty, the graphic isn't mine. I found the angel by going to Google Images and keyword (Angel) search.

You may use it all you want.

BTW, Cob....I have been wanting to ask how your daughter is doing. I hope all is well. She is in my thoughts often. It is people who confront these struggles each and every day who ground the rest of us and give us the tools we need to make life's blessings count. Prayers for her.

"My daughter's baby Peace was lost at that same age (26 wks) and her twin Serenity was lost about 12 wks before that

Now I understand why the graphic of the angel would mean so much to your daughter.

UPDATE FROM NANA!

"Dear TC, BG and our Freeper Family...

First thing, Termite seems to be improved this morning :) We're not talking giant steps, but an improvement no less. Let me start at the beginning and see if I can explain what's going on. I have given some info to TC., so if I'm repeating anything you know... I'm sorry. I haven't had time to read the lastest on the thread, as I wanted to get this information to you as soon as possible.

Logan's color is MUCH better this morning. This could possibly be attributed to the blood transfusion that he received in the early morning hours. Yesterday he was *pasty* white and his limbs were almost stiff. He is being given 2 different antiobiotics and they are hoping that even before they know what and if as far as any infections, that this will knock any in the beginning stages. They really don't like to do this.... but they are trying so hard with our baby.

Logan still weighs 4 lbs. 4 oz, which is very close to what he weighed before he had surgery. They are starting him on nutrients this afternoon. The same kind he had as a brand newborn, this is a caloric nutrient. He has been given liquids and glucose to keep his electrolites and postassium correct all along after the surgery.

His blood gases have improved somewhat. Remember... we're talking baby steps, but thank God.... they're forward this day so far, and not backward.

He is feeling pain. He felt nothing yesterday. And when he attempts to cry, all his mommy has to do is place her hand on his little forehead and tell him, "Logan, it's ok. Hey little one, Mommy's buddy is ok".... and almost immediately this little infant settles back down. Of course there is no sound coming from him, because of the vent tube, but there's no question that he's crying. They do intend to give him something for the pain if he continues to show signs of having it. Now they want him to be restful..... because he is showing signs of coming "up" again. He moves his arms and legs.... not the smooth movement he had before, but more like adults do as they are coming out of anethesia.

Logan has always liked to sleep with his little left arm up over his eye. They want his arm down and the nurse asked me to put it back down because I was standing on that side of him. Nope! When I tried, the little dickens let me know by his baby strength that he was keeping it up there. I didn't want to force him, but the nurse placed it down and laughed. Logan showed signs of a fight in him!!

As we stood before Logan last evening, you feel the somber mood from the nurses at the stations around Logan. Their eyes spoke a thousand words. This morning, they were smiling and going about their business. When they saw us talking to Logan, they would look over and smile at us. Several winked!

We're so far from out of the woods, so far from that precious infant that went into surgery, that the ordeal of another journey scares me to pieces. But whatever the journey, however God has charted the course for our baby, we will carry him, walk with him and glady accept him as God chooses..... just please dear Lord let us keep him.

I have to be personal with all of our friends here. My family has always been a "tough" bunch. We stick together and can handle just about anything that has been thrown at us.... and believe me... we've had mountains to climb! But never anything like this. And never have we turned to others in anguish and sought help. It was our fight and we fought alone. But such is not the case with little Logan. Every single post on this thread has become the light of knowledge to us that you ALL care. We have been blessed by your prayers, your beautiful graphics, you kind words, and deeds given. Gifts of your love... love for a baby you have taken into your hearts and prayed harder than many have prayed in years. This little infant has indeed become the light of so many eyes dusted with tears. And God has welcomed so many back to His beautiful world. Many of us had drifted not away, but "down the road" a bit. We have all benefited by our journey with Logan.

I told Logan this morning when I left him that his family, near and far loves him. I told him of the wonderful people who are pleading for God's help in healing Termite. And as I started to turn to leave, one little eye opened for but a brief moment.

Many of you have passed prayer requests on to others that began on Free Republic to other lists, churches, friends..... all over the world. And all for the love of one tiny infant. Big hearts, Big love.... lots of it. To those, thank you also.......

What else is there to say folks? We love y'all. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We continue to pray our prayer of thanks to God for all of your love. We pray for little Ryan, Eli, Faith, Cindy and all others that are in need of His special blessings and healing power.

I will send updates as I find out more.... I think today Logan is going to rest and hopefully continue to once again get stronger. Your continuing prayers will always be appreciated.

God bless you all..... our love is sent your way....

Logan's Nana

the latest.... just received a call from Beth.... the baby still isn't breathing without the ventilator, but he had tried a little this morning. Now they feel that he's just exhausted. They are going to give him Flovent to try and open the broncia to help him breathe a little easier. He did have both eyes open for a little bit just now. His carbon level is high again, so he's "walzing" with this right now."

I don't know about y'all, but I feel really good about this!
I know those looks from the nurses that Nana is talking about, and they can make your heart break or soar.
Right now, folks, my heart is soaring!
I know it's not all good news, but, like Nana said, we've made some tiny baby steps forward.

Thank you, God!

Thank you, freepers!

Thank you, caregivers of the tiny ones!

Pictures coming!

Heavenly Father, we thank You that Logan is continuing to show extraordinary determination ... we praise You, for he is fearfully and wonderfully made. Cause the team to make medical decisions that help him in his struggle ... empower them with Your wisdom, for the way is difficult. Thank You that his beloved caregivers have reason to smile ... grace their voices and hands with words and love that comfort him. And grant mercy to the heartcry of this little one's family ... may it be thus, Divine Physician ... may it be thus, in the name of Jesus, Amen ...

Good afternoon, TexasCowboy.

Thank you for the update on Logan. Prayers sent on Logan and his family's behalf.

It is amazing that people can find the stupidiest things to get upset over and yet, this child reminds us all that life is precious no matter who you are. For those of you who have experienced this or the pain of losing your child, prayers on your behalf as well. Thank you for taking time to share it with all of us. I'm sure it can't be easy.

It is by the Grace of God that a child is born everyday. It is a reminder to the rest of us that God hasn't given up on us.

God Bless Logan and each and every one that has taken to their knees on behalf of this precious baby.

Thanks for the alert, amom. No magic to offer here...but I'm very willing to join all of you in placing my own appeals before our merciful Father.

Beloved Merciful Father,

We place before you once more the life of this tiny child who has captured our hearts. We do not know your plans for him, but we ask that you will shatter all opposition to your divine Will for him. We ask that you will intercede directly into the healing and proper development of his respiratory system, circulatory system, and all other body systems which are out of balance at this time.

Father, surround this child continually with your love and a swaddling garment of healing and protection fashioned from our prayers. Surround the nurses and doctors, laboratory techs, and all other medical professionals touching his case. Grant each of these professionals insight and wisdom into this blessed baby's situation. Shatter any and all energies of chaos or confusion which sometimes occurs in large hospitals. Let that entire hospital become a great zone of peace and calm whereby the people in it can be one-pointed in pursuing healing according to your Will without distraction.

Father, enfold the immediate family and loved ones of this blessed child. Extend to them your loving hand and by that hand and abundant mercy surround them with a deep feeling of peace, joy, calm, and trust in your loving concern. Help all of us here unite our lesser vision with your own ultimate Vision for this child and your plans for him. We are grateful, Father, for this little one, and we see how he has affected the lives and hearts of so many. Give this little boy the understanding at some level of his being how much we welcome him here and wish to see him live. Help him to summon that will to continue fighting. Let our prayers, in addition to holding him in a swaddling garment also support him in his fight to summon that will.

Father, we are grateful that you have been with Logan and with us each step of the way. We trust your abundant love and mercy for all of your children. We submit to thy loving Will, for we know that because of our request for you to shatter all opposition, ONLY your Will CAN be done in this entire situation. Father, you know the answers from you that we pray for. We want life and opportunity for this child and his family. We want to see this child grow in grace and stature. We have been expecting miracles from you and you have been gracious to grant them. Father, please, hear your children once more for this tiny brother of ours. Father, grant that our vision for his life may come true. Nevertheless, in the words of our Lord, "not my will, but Thine be done."

Father, we ask that all of our prayers for this one child may serve as a spiritual fulcrum, whereby by thy grace, all small little ones struggling for life may be enfolded. All which we call forth for Logan we also call forth for them according to thy perfect, omnicient, and merciful good Will.

Amen
