You are right that a crowded situation is a tough place to call for everyone to begin firing to stop a crime... I think the point that is valid is that fewer perps would ~try~ to go into a public place shooting if they thought everyone in the room might be armed. It is the psychology of 'gun free zones'.

Please refer to Post #424. Better explanation.

I don't know how one can assume James Davis is a name for a black man. It's quite a leap. I didn't say that I assumed James Davis is a name for a black man. I said I assumed a city council member from Brooklyn, NY who is named James Davis was black. You have to know Brooklyn to understand that. LOL.

Given the population density in New York City, there is a much greater chance that in addition to one dead creep, you would also have a lot of innocent people killed or wounded in the line of fire.Know your load! Finding the right balance of penetration and expansion is the duty of every American. It's fun, too!

I've never been on a Grayhound bus.
I'm sorry for pointing it out, but you babble like a urine-soaked homeless person on 8th Ave.

See the article I posted at #362. "The people" weren't armed, but a security guard was, and it looks as if he may have hit two people in the balcony as he returned fire in the direction of the shooter -- apparently nobody taught the security guard that returning fire into a group of 100 people isn't a good idea. That's my whole point. Although I would like to think that every law abiding citizen in NYC ought to be able to carry a gun, the reality is that with nearly 8 million residents and another two million daily commuters, most of these law abiding gun owners would probably make the situation worse and kill or wound innocent people. There are certainly many situations where carrying a gun is a deterent to crime or may stop a crime in progress. This was probably not one of them.

Premeditated but if they came together, why didn't the guy just shoot him in a dark alley? Such a public payback is the ultimate revenge or is there a woman involved? I'm sure this will become on tv ad nauseum for about a month. I'll follow this as long as I am curious as to the details.
May the victims rest in peace and prayers to the families.

Per an article currently on Fox News website "Employees, reporters with current press passes and police officers are not required to pass through a metal detector."

I saw the documentary on that. It was sad all the way around. Very very sad for all involved.

Curtis Sliwa just said that guests of the council do not have to go through the security check.
He also pointed out that the perpetrator was dressed well, in a suit and tie, making an escape in the panic very easy.
It sounds like a premeditated shooting by somebody who obviously knew the victim.
I'm going off into pure speculation and saying that a chick dispute is the root cause. Cherchez la femme.

OK. I was under the impression that Davis was on the floor, the shooter on the balcony, and I inferred there was 20+ feet between them.
