A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

A love story, an anniversary, a surprise......
Today's thread was going to be a regular profile of Ohio FReeper chance33_98, although he didn't know it! It was to be a surprise -- a sort of wedding anniversary present -- with his wife LadyShallott furnishing the information. But as I read her words (taking out a few of the personal details), my mind began to take a whole different direction -- this one!
Won't you please join me in wishing them both a Happy Anniversary .... and .... let them -- and us! -- eat cake! :)

"I knew from the moment I saw him that I was going to marry him. As strange as that sounds its the truth." ~ Chris
Chris believes that fate had something to do with meeting her future husband. Living in Bakersfield, California, she was offered a temporary job in Tehachapi, 45 minutes away, with the company that employed Todd. Unsure at first whether she wanted to make the drive every day, Chris ultimately took a chance and accepted the job.
"He was a quiet computer geek who worked upstairs, and I found a million reasons that I had to go upstairs to see him. He was completely unaware that I was trying to get him to ask me on a date. Finally I asked him to go to dinner. And the rest as they say is history."
"Two weeks after we met I took a cab (yes a cab -- $200 worth!) from Bakersfield to Tehachapi, because my car was in the shop. We've never been apart since that night."
"On July 17th, just months after we met, we were married. That was five years ago."
"With this ring, I thee wed......."
More About FReepers LadyShallott & Chance33-98
Chance33-98 registered at FReeRepublic on November 9, 2000, and after freeping for almost a year, persuaded his wife to become a FReeper on August 29, 2001. Among his hobbies and interests are: math, photography, arts-n-crafts, painting miniatures, and reading. Chris sums him up as "loving God, computers, family and Bush. LOL."
LadyShallott, or Chris, as we've come to know her, describes herself as: "a 32 year old stay at home mom who is happily married to chance33_98." That beautiful little redhead, "Boo-Boo", above, is the pride and joy of them both - and understandably so!
Both Todd and Chris are amateur photographers, and some of their work has been published in photography books. Below are a few of their Angel photographs which were taken in various historical cemeteries in Ohio.

~ Old Rugged Cross ~
~ Flower Child ~
And Finally.....
Chris also wrote, "We have no official wedding pictures", so I thought I would make her one. LadyShallott, as a modern day "Flower Child" when you married, here is the way I pictured you as a bride:
Happy 5th Anniversary, LadyShallott & Chance33_98

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

((((((((Billie)))))))) - how absolutely beautiful! Your vignettes are outstanding - I especially love the picture of Chris as a bride. .45MAN and I have no official wedding pictures, either, so I can imagine how thrilling it was for Chris to see that! Thank you, sweet Sistah Dansy! (want one? I'm series) :)

Oh, Pip, I'm so sorry. Wish I could help you - we miss those Pippin Hugs when you're not here. I don't think modems are very expensive, and bet you could even find one on EBAY or somewhere at a really good discount?

What a loverly post today. Billie, it is just beautiful; the sentiment, the graphics and, of course, the anniversary couple!
I wish I could stay for the party, but I can just stop by for a minute to drop off this anniversary wish for our happy couple and then I need to take off on my rounds ~ save me some champagne.
Happy day wishes to all of my loverly Sistahs and Finest FRiends! (Michael, you were great on Scarborough Country the other night - just wish he would have given you more air time, and the "other" guy less, LOL.)
Lady and Chance, wishing you many, many years of wedded bliss. ((((((((hugs))))))))
To: Mama_Bear
Thank you Mama Bear! Thanks for dropping by to share the day with us. We will save some champagne for you. :)God Bless-

"I knew how to save the pic but the printer is on the outs right now. So I saved it for a later date when the new printer gets here. LOL. Maybe that will be the anniversary gift from the husband?"
Hmmm....in my mind's eye, I can see it now - -
Todd and Chris at work with the new printer - -
(well - it is your 'wood anniversary'!! )

Just wanted to say "Hello" to you all because I know I have gotten pings over the past few days from you and may not have answered. I've been in the middle of teaching a training class at work and it has been hectic.
Hope all are doing well. I appreciate each and every time that you think of me. Someday when I hit the Lotto I'll have more time for FReepin'! LOL!
:-)

I spent 2 hours at the quilt shop this morning drooling over all the beautiful fabrics. I'm going to try to get three done by Christmas. I can do it if I machine quilt them. I guess I'm a quilt snob. It doesn't seem real to me unless it was quilted by hand. I'll have to get over that. LOL
Does anyone else quilt in here?
To: SpookBrat
Hey now!!! I did not hit the post button twice. The computer hiccuped or something. Weird.
To: SpookBrat
Thank you so much! It's nice to know that our special day could be shared with friends. I quilt, I am a little rusty (dont have the time with a toddler). But I know what you mean about drooling over fabric. I would love to make a family tree quilt. I have collected old pictures of my family from both sides. When I get the time I am going to make it for my Mom and Dad. Happy quilting and God Bless-
Chris

Yesterday I hit the quilt shop with my birthday gift certificate. Got the cert in April and just now using it. I bought tons of fat quarters and fat eighths...I do hand applique quilts primarily. I've done machine quilting but there's something about handwork that thrills me.
To: LadyShallott
What a wonderful project. I've seen those and they are amazing and so meaningful. I've got a bunch of great family pictures. Hmmmmm....maybe I should make one.
One thing I have done is saved all my daughters dresses. Ones that would make a good quilt that I could bear to cut. Like good cotton ones, not knit. Anyway, I plan on making her a wedding quilt with all her old dresses. I can't wait. I'm telling you this, because your daughter is still young and you haven't sold all her out grown dresses in a garage sale yet. :) God bless you too. ((((hugs))))
I'm dying to start today, but payday isn't until the first of the month. I get to spend what the Democrats left us. Woohoo!
To: homeschool mama
Sorry to monopolize the board with quilting. LOL Ohhhhhh, I love handwork too!! My favorite is embroidery...I like sewing vintage redwork patterns. I don't know how to applique yet. I will learn.
I saw a bunch of cute nautical and vintage sailboat type fabric today. I think that's going to be my first project. Ally has grandparents who sail every weekend. I'm going to get her to help me.
