A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

*Note* ~ The text for today's thread was submitted to me by nicmarlo several weeks ago. Since then, she has virtually disappeared from FR. I still wanted to present this lighthearted, personal view of life and I hope to hear from dear nicmarlo once again really soon.
Thanks "nicmarshmallow" - I miss you. Hurry back! ~dansdevil~

For the convenience of all skiers on the ski lift, when you get to the top, you're supposed to ski off the lift (rather than have the operator stop the lift, remove your skis, and catch you in their arms).

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pippin, bless your heart.
This thread is so funny and the first thing I thought of has to do with a leaning chair too. Sorry you got hurt so badly Pippin. Mine was just painful to my pride.
Things I have learned:
When you are in a Moslem country, with very white skin and blue eyes, never make a mistake or do anything stupid because EVERYONE is watching you at all times. When you go to an out door tea garden, with chair legs on large stones, make sure each chair leg is on a solid rock before you sit down. Because if you don't, your chair will go flying back, you'll be laying flat on your back with your feet in mid air, in the middle of a tea garden with 100 people looking at you.
*cough*
The other thing I have recently learned is: When you have a rabbit who runs around the house, make sure your closet door is closed at all times. If you have long church dresses, make sure you check the hem before you leave for church. Other wise, you will get to church and during the Lord's supper, realize your entire hem has been munched away. Thus causing you to make an odd fashion statement among the Lord's people.

GOOD NEWS TIME !!!
Mind you, because the tow truck was out on another call yesterday and it would have been an hour and a half before it could get to me, the car dealer's son came out to pick me up and take me home.
Since by then it was 5 p.m., Mike personally called the repair shop owner (located next door to their used car dealership) to tell them our car would be dropped there after hours and to "fix it" this morning.
This morning Creech's called to say it should be ready by "dinner time" - in the Deep South, meaning the midday meal.
Sure enough, the phone rang at 11:30 and a voice said, "This is Barry at Creech's - your car is ready!"
He gave me the amount ($ 73.16 was all it was) - came to pick me up, introducing himself as "I'm Barry - one of the Creech boys..."
('boy' of about 50)
(It was the alternator, as everyone thought. I had suspected that, too, having no brothers and my Dad an engineer, much of my childhood spent playing with car engines and generators.
After that, stopping to thank A.J. and Mike for their help yesterday and pay the towing bill, A.J. said, "No need - already sent it over to Jack at State Farm and you won't have to bother with it."
You cannot beat warmhearted and caring small town folks - -
For the curious, my next trek to Augusta will be Monday the 14th - feel as if I am a star in a Soap Opera - watch for the next installment!!
LOL

G'day to our Lead Hostess, her able assistant, cohort and main man, the .45 caliber type.
Nice job, Dansy, and it's very cool to put up nicmarlo's string of pearls for the benefit of us all. Your gesture of love and respect to our absent neighbor is beautiful, and nic's shared wisdom kinda tickles me.

Thank you for all of the kind words, sistah! Dan sometimes pays more attention to detail than I. I had already posted the thread this morning when he (on *his* computer at the same time) pulled the graphic, did his magic (he *knows* all of our colors), and asked me what I thought. I told him I loved it so much I'd pull a quick "switcheroo" - his for the one I had up.
As to my role in the graphics - it was *fun* given the material I was given to work with.
The only thing that bothers me is nicmarlo not being here. :-(

I'm glad everything worked out about the repairs. God takes care of the smallest things doesn't he?
I'm studying my Bible lesson today because I am teaching Hebrews to the Kindergarten class at church on Wednesday night. Yikes. Hebrews is heard to explain to little minds. Anyway, the kids and I studied Hebrews 3 this morning and the warning against lack of faith.
It was a sobering thing to read this morning. I always think my faith is strong because I believe God 100% all the time, no questions asked, ever. And then I started thinking.....hmmmmm...I think I disbelieve more than I realize.
OK, confession and humility is over for today. No more from me. HA! Wish me luck with the Hebrews class. It's going to be a challenge.

How fortunate are those little ones to have you as their guide, dear Spook Brat!
We have every confidence in His leading you to say just the *right things* for them to grasp and be tiny anchors of thought . . little mustard seeds that will flourish and sustain them in the years ahead.
