A Few Of FR's Finest....Every Day....07-09-03...."Things I've Learned In Life"

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, dansangel, dutchess, Mama_Bear, Aquamarine

*Note* ~ The text for today's thread was submitted to me by nicmarlo several weeks ago. Since then, she has virtually disappeared from FR. I still wanted to present this lighthearted, personal view of life and I hope to hear from dear nicmarlo once again really soon.

Thanks "nicmarshmallow" - I miss you. Hurry back! ~dansdevil~

For the convenience of all skiers on the ski lift, when you get to the top, you're supposed to ski off the lift (rather than have the operator stop the lift, remove your skis, and catch you in their arms).

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
I did make the hostess graphic - found the kitties on the Internet and just had to use them.
.45MAN, however, felt that they needed their own identities, so he did the eye-coloring.
Billie-blue, dansy loves purple, aqua for Aquamarine....then he just "freelanced" the others!
I may have a chuckle to add. Goes alone with your iceskater theme.
During one of a nice snow days this winter, we always bring out out my baking tools to play in the snow. Bread pans make perfect bricks for forts, cookie cutters, spatualas, fun shaped cake tins, food dye....
Well, we have a nice little 3 foot hill that separates our house from our neighboors. My son is sliding down this on a cookie sheet. I'm standing at the top of this hill thinking to myself, I use to surf, skateboard, et al...this looks like fun...
I stand on the cookie sheet expecting to 'snowboard' down this hill. Ooops.
I go down and I went down hard! twisted my leg real good. (not broke, just embarrassing)
My son (6 y.o.) looks at me shocked and runs to the neighboors house, "mommy is hurt!"
I crawled over to the tree to pull myself up and tried to look as normal as possible when my neighboor came running out, "Hi Joan, want to play in the snow?" Don't think she bought it to well, she looked at me with an all knowing look, "Everything ok?". I think she knew my pride was hurt more than anything else.
Boy I felt stupid :P
Hi, Martin!
I got one:
Never put your hands in the freezer while they're wet! (this is for the older non-self-defrosting fridges)
Someone did a study once that showed by age 3 kids could recognize up to 30 brands.
What if they recognize a drug name from the candy that is on an actual drug? Granted the packaging is the same as the candy; but the drug label is on it too.
We don't have any of the actual drugs in the house...but I don't think it was the best marketing move.
GOOD MORNING ALL!
I have another piece of profundity
Never lean back in a chiar at the table with a sharpened pencil proped betwee you hand and the edge of the table!
It happened to me when I was a kid. I had a pencil go right through the palm of my hand and it hurt like heck!
That is right! I did get my fingers stuck to an ice tray I just filled and was trying to put in the freezer years ago! Forgot all about that.
You guessed that's what happened to me when I was still living at home and my parents had an old fridge. I was changing the ice trays and I touched the bottom of the freezer and got my middle,index and ring fingers so stuck that they had to use a kitchen knife to get me loose! OUCH!
Not to sound like a former pervert in chief but, I feel your pain!
