It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.

*Note* ~ The text for today's thread was submitted to me by nicmarlo several weeks ago. Since then, she has virtually disappeared from FR. I still wanted to present this lighthearted, personal view of life and I hope to hear from dear nicmarlo once again really soon.

Things I've Learned In Life

For the convenience of all skiers on the ski lift, when you get to the top, you're supposed to ski off the lift (rather than have the operator stop the lift, remove your skis, and catch you in their arms).

If you want your car to run, the engine must have oil in it.

You don't need to drive around town to find out if tire stores have the size tires you need; you can call them, instead, if you know that those little numbers on the sides of tires gives you the size.

Never do anything wrong in front of your little brother.

Before you bring your children to the doctor, make sure you tell them not to ask him/her, "How do you know?"

Before you get in a long line to have the grocery store check out your completely full basket, make sure you brought your checkbook.

Before you get to work, check your shoes (and socks) to make sure they match.

When you're giving a co-worker a "goodbye" card, make sure you write their name on the envelope, not your own.

Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. I did the overdoze on aspirin when I was five and had to have my stomach pumped. Those orange flavored baby aspirins tasted like candy to me.

No joke. That's why at one time not long ago i got hooked on Orange Tic tacs - they reminded me of St. joseph Baby Aspirin! LOL!!

Want to adda tidbit here.

My husband is a doctor. Gets promotional items from drug reps all the time.

Some pharm companies actually have been putting their drug logos on real candie to give out to the docs. I don't like this. We have rolls of lifesavers et al with drug labels of Paxil and more.

May be cute to give to the docs to promote their drugs; but I don't like them coming home into the house with my little ones.

Did someone come to my house and take a picture of the car with the engine out? Mr. iceskater is big time into the old British sports cars (Triumphs in particular). And since they're old and British, they require constant tinkering. That picture is waaaaaay to close to what my garage usually looks like. LOL!

Oh my gosh, I had no idea the pharmaceutical companies were doing that. I don't like that either - and I don't have little kids running around my house. Someone wasn't thinking too clearly. Sheesh, this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
