Is it acceptable to marry a girl who has not yet started her menses? (Islam)
Islam Q & A ^ | 23 June 2003 | Answers supervised by Shaikh M. S. Al-Munajjid

Posted on 06/23/2003 8:32:57 AM PDT by Salman

Question:

I have not yet reached the age of puberty. Is it correct that a girl could get married before her menses start, or is that just a traditional myth?.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

Marriage to a young girl before she reaches puberty is permissible according to sharee’ah, and it was narrated that there was scholarly consensus on this point.

1 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the ‘Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubt (about their periods), is three months; and for those who have no courses [(i.e. they are still immature) their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise”

[al-Talaaq 65:4]

In this verse we see that Allaah states that for those who do not menstruate – because they are young and have not yet reached the age of puberty – the ‘iddah in the case of divorce is three months. This clearly indicates that it is permissible for a young girl who has not started her periods to marry.

Childhood is not the same here in the US as other countries. In mideastern countries girls are married and boys are doing battle while our children are playing and going to school.

What do Palestinians teach their children? By Ellis Shuman May 16, 2001

Two children with fake explosives strapped to their waists at the Ein el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp outside Sidon. (AP)

The official Palestinian television channel has repeatedly broadcast a new commercial, aimed at Palestinian children. In the commercial, twelve-year-old Mohammed al-Durra, who was killed in crossfire at Netzarim Junction in October and subsequently became a symbol for Palestinian martyrdom, is seen waving. "I am not waving goodbye," Mohammed's image says. "I am waving to tell you to follow in my footsteps."

In the background a nationalist song is playing. The lyrics state, "How pleasant is the smell of martyrs and the land, a land enriched by the blood pouring out of a fresh body." Young children in the commercial put down their toys and pick up stones. The message is clear.

A report by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) at the

"Their greatest glory… is to be a martyr" - Martin Fletcher reporting for NBC

beginning of May brought this commercial to the attention of the international media. PMW presented NBC News with the dates and times of all the broadcasts and other information that verified the integrity of the research conducted.

Martin Fletcher reported on the commercial for NBC on May 8. "Palestinians are calling on the youngest to join the battle. And they are using a stunning tactic - commercials on Palestinian TV asking children to drop their toys, pick up rocks, and do battle with Israel."

the latter two soon saw that Mahomed and the astrologer were strongly intoxicated, and lay stretched out in a deep and profound sleep. Abu Bachr thereupon drew the sword of Mahomed from its scabbard, cut off therewith Bucharan's head, and put the bloody sword back into its receptacle, and both then lay themselves down quietly near Mahomed to sleep.

Jeez, why didn't they just kill both of them?

It sounds like Islam is in many ways very similar to Pharisaic Judaism -- lots of rules and laws and such to ensure that people can, by their works, reach heaven.

Similar in the sense that Muhammad got some ideas from Judaism (and Christianity).

Nothing wrong with having rules, it depends on what the rules are.

Womens main purpose in marriage is to serve the husband and bear him male children and blow themselves up. Young boy/men are for sexual pleasure and blow themselves up.

This is how Islam "values" women.

Remember, Osama Bin Laden and Mullah Omar traded daughters to each other for "wives."

A couple of 50 year old sick murderous perverts "married" each other's 13 year old daughters in a baby-flesh swap!

This is the face of Islam, following in the steps of Mohammed and his favorite wife, 9 year old Aissha.

What kind of psycho would even ASK this question?

I get the impression that the questioner is an underage girl herself: "I have not yet reached the age of puberty..."

I wonder what country she's writing from. Probably not a Muslim country, or she wouldn't be on line.

Think of what must have prompted the question.

And the left says that we should be tolerant of other cultures and that all cultures are on par with ours. We can't discriminate against these sick individuals now can we?

The Messenger of Allaah married ‘Aa’ishah bint Abi Bakr when she was young, six or seven years old, when her father married her to him.

And the quote goes on to say "consummated the marriage with her when she was nine, and she stayed with him for nine years", indicating that he dumped her when she turned 18. I guess the pedophile loses interest once they're over the hill

Nothing wrong with having rules, it depends on what the rules are.

The problem arises when one lets the letter of the law replace the spirit of it. At their best, legalities should be mere formalizations of what most people already know to be the proper way to behave. Once you start relying on the letter of the law, then all you've got is rules, and the breaking of same. (This was St. Paul's basic point in Romans.)

Thus, you get murderous Islamic nut-cases and, indeed, Pharisees of all religions (e.g., those execrable "God Hates Fags" idiots) who are so focused on imposing the letter of their interpretation that they forget about the loving God whose will they're supposed to represent.

Thank you...for you have just described the world I grew up in....where the Bible was viewed as a book of 'Things to do if you don't want to go to hell, prayer was something that could be bullied and forced out of you for someone elses gain, questioning caused you to be labled "the devil's own".....

Thus, you get murderous Islamic nut-cases and, indeed, Pharisees of all religions (e.g., those execrable "God Hates Fags" idiots) who are so focused on imposing the letter of their interpretation that they forget about the loving God whose will they're supposed to represent.

Why is it that the most miserable, self-loathing types are attracted to a way of thinking that lets them tell the rest of the world they are damned to eternal suffering (unless they adhere to the magic book that tells them all the things to do?)

No mention of joy or peace or whatever....Why is "love your neighbor" so friggin' hard to understand?

I believe she stayed married to him until his death, which was when she was about 18.

Obviously this was before the time of sword-control.

"Pharisees of all religions (e.g., those execrable "God Hates Fags" idiots)"

Can you point out a country where those maniacs are in control, and form a majority of the population?

It's a pitiful straw man arguement to put forward a handful of our loonie tunes to balance hundreds of millions of murder-supporting Islamic maniacs.

Islam was written by a pedophile named Mohammed. So religiously following islam potentially turns all people into pedophiles. Islam is not a religion of peace.
