Would you send a letter to a soldier with this stamp?
I found out about this via email and checked the USPS site:
Now the United States Postal Service REMEMBERS and HONORS the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a commemorative first class holiday postage stamp.
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of PanAm Flight 103!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the military barracks in Saudi Arabia!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001!
REMEMBER all the AMERICAN lives that were lost in those vicious MUSLIM attacks!
REMEMBER to adamantly and vocally BOYCOTT this stamp when purchasing your stamps at the post office. To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those AMERICANS who died at the hands of those whom this stamp honors.
I am sure not going to buy any of these stamps!!
Just one more reason email is so popular.

"Eid is a holiday. Properly celebrated, it involves sacrificing animals."Correct. It does. I have no idea if Muslims in the US practice animal sacrifice in celebration of EID. I imagine only Muslims and rabid leftists would buy such stamps...which is extremely ironic since so many rabid leftists are PETA-types.
RAFAH, GAZA, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Palestinian boys shows their bloodied hands after their families slaughtered a cow on the first day of Eid al-Adha holiday, in Rafah refugee camp in Gaza on Feb. 11, 2003. The ritual for Eid al-Adha, or the feast of the sacrifice, commemorates God's provision of a ram to substitute for Abraham's impending sacrifice of his son. Muslims sacrifice cows, sheep, goats, camels or bulls, and give a share of the meat to the poor during the four-day religious holiday.

Question: Would you send a letter to a soldier using THIS stamp?
Answer: No.
In fact, if the Post Office tried to foist one of these things off on me, I would refuse it. The United States has no business touting Muslim feasts.

Thanks for the explanation, however, I do not for one moment believe that Islam is in anyway tied together with Christianity and Judaism in reality.

Ted Kaczynski would be proud to mail a package using these stamps.

CHARMING ritual. After viewing the picture, it occurred to
me that if you re-arrange the letters of the holiday's name, you
get DIE. More than appropriate.

There are many fine people of the Muslim faith here in America - some of them are my co-workers and wouldn't hurt a fly. This broad-brush condemnation of all Muslims serves no one.

Isn't there a guideline that they can't feature a living individual on a commemorative stamp issue?
This stamp is coming out in a couple of months:

Shall I conclude from your words that you consider "the Germans" as enemies?Nations are either with us or against us; there is no such thing as "neutral" in this war. And your nation's diplomatic efforts--efforts duly sanctioned by the general populace in free, fair, and honest elections, mind you--gave Saddam Hussein more time to hide WMDs and prepare for our attack.
Your nation isn't acting like a friend, that much is certain.

I don't know but my first thought says no the person doesn't have to be dead. I did find this tidbit.
The First Commemorative Stamps Controversial Columbian Exposition stamps, 1893
Postmaster General John Wanamaker stirred up quite a commotion back in 1893 when he issued the nation's first commemorative postage stamps. He was rebuked by a congressional joint resolution that protested the "unnecessary" stamps. Wanamaker, an astute businessman, defended his actions by saying that the commemorative stamps could become money-makers. History proved him right.

1. Don´t say "your nation", say "your government".
2. The German government has decided to grant overflight rights, to protect the US facilities in Germany, to work together in the war against terrorism and has agreed to lift sanctions on Iraq asap. When you say "either with us or against us" I tell you that these actions do not indicate hostility, therefore it must be friendly.
3. President Bush has just met with a German opposition leader, and Sec. Powell has spoken as long to the Chancellor as with CDU-chairman Merkel - seems as if our opposition has excellent ties with the current US Administration.
"Your nation isn´t acting like a friend, that much is certain." -- I believe in the opposite.

You have the right to boycott it, but we have a Muslim population in the Millions as well as others who are interested in the religion. While many might still mix islam with radical islam, many Americans don't including our President.
I totally agree.
All Islam is not radical Islam. This is, and (hopefully) will continue to be, a pluralistic society.
Moreover, we do have some Muslims who are serving with distinction in the armed forces so I doubt they would be insulted to receive a letter bearing that stamp.
That is not to say that we cannot or should not take a good hard look at who we let into our country.

Well, I guess I was WRONG! Read below:
The Postal Service, however, has a long series of rules that govern issuing new commemorative stamps. For example, except for a deceased president, the person being honored must have been dead for at least ten years.

Though I believe that Islam has to make its own "Reformation" like the Christians had in the 16th century. Muslims should support secular state systems and tolerate different cultures and religions as we do. And no, I don´t think of the tolerant Muslim neighbour I invite for dinner when writing that, I think of the hate spreaders in ghettos and the "Islam Republics".
