Peter Arnett ( Takes credit for American Opposition to the War ) A MUST READ
3-30-2003

Posted on 03/30/2003 3:16:09 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

JOHN GIBSON: "Peter Arnett, who is now employed as a correspondant by National Georgraphic Television, was interviewed by one of Iraq's Information Ministers on Iraq State TV.

He began interviewing Arnett about what is going on in Iraq and what is going on in America about the war.

What Peter Arnett said is that it is clear that is going on in the US is clear that there is a growing challange of Bush's conduct of the war and then Arnett seemed to take credit for that, by saying that HIS reports from Iraq are helping opposition grow. "

ARNETT:" It is clear that within the United States that there is growing challenge to President Bush and he conduct about the war. And it is clear that our reports here about the Iraqi civilian casualties in the war, and the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States, and it helps those who oppose the war and challenge the policies to develop their arguments. "

So Arnett did not acknowldege what is a Pentagon claim, that the Iraqi casualties could be from Iraqi missiles which are errant missiles which are falling back down on their own Iraqi population. But Arnett went on to claim credit for growing opposition in the United States, but claimed that the Pentagon's War is a failure.

ARNETT: "Now America is reappraising the battlefield plan and delaying the war, for maybe a week. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. "

Of course Peter Arnett is now working for the National Georgraphic program, he has a deal with NBC and appears on another cable network. He has been allowed to do whatever he wants. This while other news agencies have been kicked out of Iraq, including Fox News Channel and CNN. And in addition the Newsday Newspapers has two reporters missing and assumed to be held by authorities in Iraq, yet Peter Arnett is allowed to stay. I guess that we can come to our own conclusions, it appears that Peter Arnett is now operating in Iraq and doing Iraq great favors by his own estimation, in organizing opposition to the war, here in this country, in the United States by his reports, and by giving the Iraqis a growing sense of nationalism, because by his accounts, the initial war plan has failed, and the Iraqi opposition has sent the war planners back to the drawing board.

So there you have it, Peter Arnett in Iraq.

Don't you think there is a possiblity that he was FORCED, with a gun aimed at his head, to say these things in Iraqi TV?
I don't like the guy, I think he's slime, but he may have been threatened and tortured into this 'interview'. Having see the other things this regime is capable of, it IS within the realm of possibility.

Great response. How does one extract it and email it to media? You said it so well. Thanks,

Thankfully, this is a private website and we should keep this hush hush. If the Iraqi authorities even get a hint of his alter ego then his life would not be worth a plugged nickel.

If he gets out of Baghdad as quickly as possible and grovels for forgiveness on national TV, then I might believe that. But Arnett has made a career out of telling anti-American lies, and I see no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Anyway, he looked like his perfectly normal, snotty self to me. I saw no fear on his face.

This is not surprising at all -- and it isn't just NBC and Arnett. ABC News on the radio all day has been at it hard pounding the Iraqi propoganda and highlighting an "exclusive" interview with Tariq Aziz.

All day today on ABC News it's been "the U.S. is already defeated and Iraq has won the war." They are coming strikingly close to just calling Rumsfeld and Bush idiots who have been defeated by superior Iraqi strategy.

Our leftist media is pulling out all the stops right now to try and defeat the U.S. because if they can pull that off, they can destroy the Bush Administration and put leftist RATS like themselves in power for the forseeable future, and truly destroy this country -- which is their goal.

Their treason is out in the open.

Are any of the other media outlets covering this?....

I first saw this on CNN. Wolf Blitzer and Candy Crowley ran it then added their leftist commentary. Peter Arnett is their hero!

NG, like the Smitnsonian, has used generations of free money and general acceptance of anything they publish as a license to advertise their liberal/"America bad-third world good" bias as mainstream.

After Arnett is taken into life long custody (it worked for Hess) BOTH NG and the Smithsonian need to be shut down, reworked and reoritnted, then reopened on a scale small enough to keep them humble and broke.

My letter to Shapiro...

Sir,

I respect all journalists exercising their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Mr. Arnett's treasonous comments are a violation of that Amendment's protection according to the "clear and present danger" clause. His false characterization of the public opposition of the American public to President Bush's prosecution of this war has given aid and comfort to the enemy...an enemy that executes US prisoners and brutalizes it's own population. This excerable action by Arnett could lead to more Iraqi and American deaths by giving this moribund regime a shot of encouragement.

This man has violated Article 3 Section 3 and his oath of naturalization forbidding assistance to the enemies of the United States. If NBC doesn't withdraw him and terminate his employment, they are complicit by association. I expect you to do the right thing.

Then again, maybe I expect too much of NBC. Please prove me wrong.

Yours,

Keith XXXXX

The only thing that can destroy GWB is a military defeat in Iraq, not a bunch of leftists in the news media hoping for defeat. And many of them truly are hoping for defeat. They're going be seriously ill in a few weeks when this thing is over and we've stamped out the threat. ...and Bush's approval ratings climb to 80%+.

I just found this:

Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Homes wrote in his decision affirming the conviction of an antiwar pamphleteer during World War I under the Espionage Act: "When a nation is at war, many things that might be said in time of peace are such a hindrance to its effort that their utterance will not be endured as long as men fight and that no court could regard them as protected by any constitutional rights."

And this, from CNN's site, confirming Arnett's US citizenship:

"Peter Arnett, CNN’s most famous reporter from the war, only became a U.S citizen a few years before the Gulf War. He was born in New Zealand." (http://cnnasiapacific.com/cnni/cnni_highlights/pageinclude/theunfinishedwar/theunfinishedwarhk.asp)

And one more thing...we should all FReep Imus in the Morning and tell him to cancel his show on PMSNBC until they fire that traitor Arnett. He'll go nuclear on the lowlife tommorrow morning if his email and AOL Instant Messenger gets clogged up with that.

Yeah, they're just going back to their standard playbook of trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. It is interesting, I think they are clearly trying to create tension around the "civilian casualty" issue -- trying to create impatience in the Administration that might cause them to drop that strategy in the desire to get a quicker win. They're playing off that strategy, probably in the hopes that Bush will feel pressed to "take off the gloves" and then civilian casualties will grow exponentially...at which point the press will pivot on a dime and stop talking "quagmire" and start talking "massacre of innocents". I think they're trying to sucker him.

It isn't working...but Good Lord, I even heard Michael Savage on the radio tonight and he's taken the defeatist bait and wants us to go nuke. What an idiot! How'd he ever get so popular, thinking in one dimension like that?

"Arnett is a New Zealander"

I didn't know that. I thought he was from somewhere else though.

But it's OK. We can just name him an enemy combatant, and shoot the bastard on sight.

Oh yeah, I don't doubt that the excuses will be flowing like cheap whine. But the Presidential approval ratings will tell the real story, and the libs, no matter what they admit publicly, will be sickened by them.

You can look at the state of American popular culture and ask that?
