During the weekend of March 22-23, the Free Republic Network sponsored or assisted with 105 individual Rally for America events across America. Using the most conservative media estimates, at least 120,000 people attended Rally events. There were no reported arrests. All the national media outlets provided at least some coverage, with much more detailed reporting locally, and the wire services ran dozens of Rally photos. To be sure, ABCNNBCBS paid disproportionate attention to the various peace riots, but the leftists no longer own the streets. The purpose of the ongoing Rally for America is to provide ordinary Americans the opportunity to show their resolve to support our troops, oppose terrorism, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein. The Free Republic Network is sponsoring the Rally for America in cooperation with several other national organizations, including the American Conservative Union, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, Young Americans for Freedom, the Free Congress Foundation, College Republicans, Liberty Belles, SAFE Foundation, VetsCoR, Be FIT Take AIM and ACT Against Terrorism, and, of course, the Free Republic Forum. Many other organizations and web sites passed information to their email lists or posted Rally links online.
Several prominent conservatives have stepped up to support our efforts, including David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, who said last week, "The President's decision to remove Saddam has widespread support across this country, despite what you see on the network news. The Rally for America is a terrific opportunity for Americans everywhere to support our troops and to take a stand against terrorism."
Former Congressman Bob Barr said, "The Rally for America is a golden opportunity for those who support the removal of Saddam's regime to stand up and be heard. If you are tired of watching the leftists throw tantrums in the streets while claiming they represent America, please come out and help us show our troops, our fellow citizens and the world that Operation Iraqi Freedom has our full support."
Needless to say, this has been an intense period for the FR Network and its leadership. More than 30,000 people accessed the Rally map at www.freeper.org last week to organize or locate an event, and we fielded more emails and phone calls than we care to count. Now that we have a few moments to take a breath, wed like to say thanks.
Thanks to our sponsors, to friends and allies, and to the amazing people who made and continue to make these events happen FR Chapter leaders and others outside Free Republic. Most of all, our profound thanks and gratitude to everyone who made a sign or picked up a flag and hit the streets.

If youd like to help the FR Network continue this kind of work, you are most welcome. Just go to
www.freeper.org and find the nearest FR Chapter.
And if there isnt one close by, maybe you can do something about that.

we were out there yesterday, and we way outnumbered the peaceniks! (I'm sure they thought our well lettered signs were part of the VRWC, but they were due solely to our protesting expertise - learned from FR - from the Battle of 2000!)

There is a Rally for America in Lee's Summit, Missouri on Saturday for anyone in the area. Contact filbert for more information.

I'll comment later (still trying to catch up at work), but will say this for now:
This was a learning experience for the three of us (me, mykdsmom, dei23), and when we do this again it will be easier.
We got quite discouraged at times, to tell the truth.
But, from the reaction & gratitude of the military families that drove up from Ft. Bragg, Camp Lejeune, and other bases...
IT WAS ALL WORTH IT.

Thank you, CD and mykidsmom and dei23 for all the work - again - you all are the BEST. Did you get the pictures to those serving our country? (you had said you would be sure that would happen - just wondering how you did that and missed the discussion or answer about that on the other places you posted).

I missed this somehow. Sorry to hear that. We flogged it remorselessly, but of course there's quite a bit going on...

I just want to emphasize how grateful we all are to those who participated and led these rallies. It is so important that those serving our country know that they are supported.
Thank you to all of you!

TS

Those numbers are impressive Scott. Thanks for the nice wrap up comments. The media coverage was quite good in light of our past coverage. Next time it will be better.
Our chapter completed a successful FReep of the Oscars, which was documented here by a multi-media post. Drop in and enjoy folks.
Excellent job Free Republic Network. Now we're talking...
To: DoughtyOne

Kudos to the FRN!!! I did hear the New York Chapter of Free Republic mentioned on the Fox News Channel as being one of the sponsors of a rally in NYC along with Christian Coalition and others. Very cool!!!
