Another token of interest, was the 2nd request made by Army Ground Forces a short time later for specially selected animals for experimental training in message carrying, wire laying, pack carrying, first aid, scout, attack and trail work.
Formal recognition of the possible miliary value of dogs came on July 16, 1942, when the Secretary of War directed the Quartermaster General to broaden the scope of the War Dog Program to include training of dogs in the four categories:
sentry dogs, patrol dogs, messengers and mine detection dogs
but also to teach handlers and to develop training techniques plus establish schools capable of rapid expansion.
Also the Corp was ordered to broaden the scope of the United States' War Dog Program to include training for 'roving patrol messenger dog' and 'sled work' in addition to 'fixed sentry duty dog.'

Gone But Not Forgotten (Click on the graphic)

What is "War Dogs" all about? The "War Dogs, America's Forgotten Heroes" documentary, which was seen on the Discovery Channel, was produced to educate America about the war dogs and the pivotal role they played in the Vietnam War. It tells the heart-wrenching story of the bond between the dogs and their handlers and the great lengths they each took to save one another from the tragedies of war. It also recounts less than 200 of these valiant dogs returned to America at the close of the war, and how none of them were honored. The documentary, produced by GRB Entertainment, was funded largely in part by Nature's Recipe Pet Foods. Donating countless hours to the effort to make this documentary a reality, Jeffrey Bennett, Nature's Recipe Pet Foods founder, president and CEO, served as the film's co-executive producer in bringing this compelling story to the American people.

TO: Senator Thumbalina Daschle, Senator Killery Clampon, iron maiden of Ex-Criminal-in-Chief, the EX-criminal-in-chief, the EX-EX criminal-in-chief, J. Peanuts Carter, and the newest, dimmest, most minor minority speaker, Congresswoman Nancy Panthosy, who neeeded Killery to crack the whip over the Black caucus to keep them from voting for Ford.
(Did you hear that whip crack, Mr. Ford? About ten minutes from your news conference where they left you standing at the microphone for that press conference like a jilted bride?)
Did you watch Little Bo Conyers come home dragging his tail behind him weighted down by IOUs to the Drac Queen?
TO:
Every dimbocratic presidential candidate who has fought for mic time to criticize this President, THESE troops, US, and OUR country;
ALL you ignorant bastards on the far left of hellywood...
FROM:
All the Conservatives whose days are shot at simply seeing your faces appear anywhere we might be looking;
FOR:
All the FAMILIES of American Troops who send their children, brothers, and sisters off to save this country and end up fighting to keep your lowslung butts sitting in high office to cheapen everything they are fighting for;
AND:
ALL the American Troops who wish they could do this to your treasonous faces.
This was when we thought you had enough brains to read between the lines.

But now that we realize how stupid you REALLY are, I'll just spell it out for you.

And for all the rest of you libs who don't deserve a monument,
you're all gonna need this.

Hey, I just picked up a ping and thought I'd share this with ya'll, fyi . . .
Patriotic tune strikes chord: Country singer's
tribute to U.S. troops creating a buzz
I've heard this song. It is really good, imho . . .
"It's the most requested song I've ever seen in the history of KILT," Jeff Garrison, operations manager and program director for KILT radio in Houston, told the Chicago Tribune. "We're playing it every two hours."
The record label Dreamworks offers listeners a chance to hear the song on its website.
The link on that website will let you load the song in RealPlayer or Windows Media . . . And if you have or have not forgotten, check out the pics in #8.

LDL this is wonderful! I need tissues. My most favorite animal in the world, heck I even like them more than some people! I going to read the entire thread when I get home from work. I love dogs and they do play a special and important role in our lives. Thank you for this topic!
See you tonight.
