Hillary Calls for National ID Card
NewsMax.com ^ | 2/11/03

Saying that she is strongly opposed to "illegal immigrants," New York Sen. Hillary Clinton announced Tuesday that she would support a national identification card for U.S. citizens if other measures to keep illegals out of the country failed.

"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," Clinton told WABC Radio's John Gambling. Then, a few moments later, the Democratic Party presidential frontrunner added, "We might have to move towards an ID system even for citizens."

Clinton said she would support a national ID card as part of an overall effort to improve the U.S.'s national security.

"Clearly we have to make some tough decisions as a country," the top Democrat warned. "And one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry and exit system so that if we're going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let's have a system that keeps track of them."

Asked specifically if she favored a national identification system, Clinton said she would support "at least a visa ID, some kind of an entry and exit ID. And, you know, perhaps, although I'm not a big fan of it, we might have to move towards an ID system even for citizens."

Sen. Clinton, whose husband opened the floodgates to illegal immigrants in 1996 in hopes of naturalizing them in time for that year's presidential election, complained that too many Americans were employing illegals.

"People have to stop employing illegal immigrants," she told WABC. "I mean, come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau Counties, stand in the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx (and) you're going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work. You know, this is not a problem that the people coming into the country are solely responsible for. They wouldn't be coming if we didn't put them to work."

She sure has a short memory. A National ID card was the cornerstone of her Health Care initiative. Remember when the big creep presented it @ the SOTU address ? They panned the crowd and both sides of the aisle were open-mouthed stunned.

Wow! I never thought I'd write this - taking what Hillary says at face value, I agree with her. I'd like only legal US citizens to vote, stop illegal mouchers from sucking our benefits, etc. But as always, I wonder what she is up to.

If you're so against illegal immigrants Mrs. Clinton, why do you have a bill that will benefit them at the taxpayer's expense and affect the country's safety?

First of all, I'm sure all her 'friends' up there will love hearing this.

And secondly, how does she KNOW they aren't here legally?

What a condescending bitch this woman is.

Now let's see what we have here. Hillary! wants to cut off the funding for the fingerprint ID of aliens coming into the country. But she is in FAVOR of imposing on all Americans a national ID card.

Sniff the air. Is the scent of hypocrisy present here? Hillary! is saying screw logic, screw consistency. What positions can get me the most votes. That's where I will go. Of course it is no surprise to see illogic and hypocrisy on the part of the junior Senator from New York. Such behavior, however, needs to be noted whenever it rears its ugly head.

Whenever she says, YOU KNOW, she is adamently lying!

I feel that a method of identifying citizens is most likely going to be necessary in the war on terrorism, I greatly dislike Hillary's support for such a measure. My hope is that if needed, it will be temporary and disappear before the next left wing-facist gets elected.

Notice that she said nothing about actually getting illegals out of the country. Guess she figures there are enough here already to meet the needs of the Democrats.

If Americans would take these jobs, menial as they are, we wouldn't have to employ illegals. Many kids don't want to or have to work and unemployment benefits keep adults who need jobs from having to take menial jobs. No wonder illegals have jobs. Come on, Americans, quit being so prideful. Work two jobs if you have to support your family.

yes, I'm cautiously reading what she's saying about Nat'l ID system. And agree with some of it. However a card isn't the answer---way too easy to forge, steal etc.

If we really want to get serious about ID'ing it makes more sense to me to use retinal scans, handprints etc.

But I'm not totally convinced one way or another. I agree there's a big problem, but not sure I fully like this solution.

Needs more thinkin' on my part and more information from WAY more credible sources than "I'M REALLY ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT MYSELF, HILLARY"
